Proclamation 97—Appointing a Day of National Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer

March 30, 1863

A Proclamation

Whereas the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations, has by a resolution requested the President to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation; and

Whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord;

And, insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.

It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do by this my proclamation designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting, and prayer. And I do hereby request all the people to abstain on that day from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite at their several places of public worship and their respective homes in keeping the day holy to the Lord and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.

All this being done in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the divine teachings that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high and answered with blessings no less than the pardon of our national sins and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the city of Washington, this 30th day of March, A. D. 1863, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty-seventh.

Dr. Gauss’ Note: At the time of President Lincoln’s Proclamation, the Union forces were losing the war against the Confederacy. Lincoln knew that a divided nation could not stand for long and it was essential for the Union to prevail. Not long after Lincoln’s call for humiliation, fasting, and prayer on April 30, Union forces were able to win two major battles that destroyed the Confederacy. The first was the long siege of Vicksburg where Confederate troops controlled the movement of troops and supplies along the Mississippi River. The battle raged from May 18 to July 4, 1863, with the Union army of Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant overcoming the Confederate troops of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton. This gave the Union complete control of the Mississippi River and cut the Confederate forces off from the West.

To the north, Gen. Robert E. Lee decided to advance on Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, believing that a sound victory there would cut off the Union and force them to surrender. However, the same day Vicksburg fell to the Union, Gen. Lee was retreating to Virginia after his sound defeat at Gettysburg on July 3 at the hands of Maj. Gen. George Meade and his Army of the Potomac.

With these two major victories for the Union forces, as well as those in Arkansas and Tennessee, the winds of war turned decidedly in the Union’s favor.

Today, 159 years later, America once again is on the brink of a civil war; a division of thought, philosophy, spiritual wellness and rule of law. We are living in a very dangerous time; the most dangerous in the nation’s history. It is a time when the government that is supposed to be “of the people, by the people, for the people” has turned against the people.

I have no allusions that the current occupant of the White House will be as insightful, spiritual or concerned for the nation’s survival as President Lincoln. Division seems to be his mantra and purpose.

However, the pastors and Christian leaders across America have an opportunity to do the same: to call for a day of humiliation, fasting and prayer; a call for repentance on behalf of the Church and the country. What better day, than April 30, 2022, to commemorate a time when our young nation desperately needed God’s intervention. We need His intervention more now than ever before. But, is it too late?

Calling all Prayer Warriors: Step Up!

On December 16, President Biden sent a chilling message to the American people.  He was widely quoted in the media across the United States and abroad.

“I want to send a direct message to the American people: Due to the steps we’ve taken, Omicron has not yet spread as fast as it would have otherwise done,” he noted.

“But it’s here now, and it’s spreading and it’s going to increase,” Biden continued. “For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm.

“But there’s good news: If you’re vaccinated and you had your booster shot, you’re protected from severe illness and death,” he added.

Such a careless and totally unwarranted and unproven proclamation put a curse on America and its residents.  Words idly spoken are dangerous and have consequences.  On the surface, Biden’s pronouncements are unscientific, unproven and fallacious.  In the reality of the spiritual realm, Mr. Biden put a curse of “severe illness and death” upon America’s citizens.  To make matters even worse, he prophesied this grim future for a very specific group of people—most of whom hold strong Christian beliefs—the “unvaccinated.”  He not only condemned them, but also their families.  That is what hate mongers do to those they detest and are in opposition to their beliefs.

In an effort to reaffirm this wicked curse, the Biden administration, on the same day, sent forth the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, Jeffrey Zients, to reiterate the Biden curse. 

For the unvaccinated, you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm,” Zients declared.

On Tuesday, December 21, pseudo scientist, Bill Gates, claimed the United States “could be entering the worst part of the pandemic.”

I have stated this before: fear is a powerful motivator.  If you can instill fear in someone or a society, you will have complete control over them if they believe you have the answer to their safety and security.  If you tell people lies often enough and back them up with false “science” and data, the undiscerning ears will believe most anything.  One just has to look at the history of socialism, Marxism, communism and the horrendous deception and lies the Jews and others swallowed at the beginning and during the purge of the Third Reich in Germany.  It has been said, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.  Well, here we are, and we are in the throes of repeating it on steroids.

However, for those who cling to faith in Christ, we know, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).  Believers need to do their homework on this “pandemic” and discern the truth and trust in God.  Deceptions, lies and condemnation of fellow Americans have been running rampant in the last two years and most of it from a government that is charged with protecting and doing what is right for the populace.

The truth?

For the past two years I have written extensively on this blog about the repeated lies and deceptions put forth by Dr. Fauci, WHO, the FDA, CDC, President Biden and a host of other scientists and pseudo scientists on the pandemic and the COVID-19 infection.

First, the unvaccinated AND the vaccinated are coming down with COVID-19, the Delta and the Omicron variant.  In South Africa, where the Omicron variant was first detected, the latest study revealed that those infected are 80 percent less likely to be hospitalized than with COVID-19.

Second, the coronavirus PCR test most used to detect the viruses is practically worthless.  The inventor of the test has stated that it will produce too many false positives to be relied on for COVID-19 and other virus diagnoses.  Dr. Fauci, early into the pandemic, clearly proclaimed that the PCR test also detects “dead nucleotides.”  That means if you had a cold or the flu ten years or thirty years ago, you are likely to have a positive COVID test.

Third, the three vaccines, along with booster shots have resulted in serious and sometimes deadly side effects and results.  According to the CDC’s VAERS report through December 10, there have been almost 966,000 adverse reactions to the COVID vaccines and 20,000+ deaths.  Adverse reactions included 22,952 life threatening events, 106,000+ hospitalizations and 33,675 permanent disabilities.  As shocking as those numbers are, it is most likely they are grossly under reported by medical centers and the CDC. 

Fourth, despite all the hype by Presidents Trump and Biden, the NIH (National Institutes of Health), FDA, CDC, Dr. Fauci, the vaccine makers and many others, the vaccines have mostly resulted in only partially and brief protection from the virus and even the “fully” vaccinated will need to get “booster” shots and/or take a variety of “new” oral or injected “cures.”

Fifth, while masking continues to be mandatory in many states and cities, numerous studies and scientific data have proven that the majority of masks being used by the public are worthless for virus protection or spreading.

Sixth, while they say that the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly, the medical science has reported that the symptoms are much less severe than COVID-19 or the Delta variant.  Severe health issues and related deaths are far lower than the pandemic versions.  To date, the data for Omicron does not warrant masking, lockdowns, isolation, school and business closings and a host of other health and societal damaging measures.

Calling ALL Prayer Warriors.

Fortunately, those of strong Christian faith know where they stand; Who stands with them and how to combat such word curses.  The faithful in Christ must rebuke them in the name of Jesus Christ and forbid them to perform or have any effect on one’s family and the people of the United States.  We must stand in the gap. 

“So I sought for a man [or woman] among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land,” God said, “that I should not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30).  Let not the faithful be found wanting, but instead be bold and courageous and persevering in prayer.

“Have I not commanded you?” God reminded Joshua. “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).  Joshua’s reminder is every believer’s reminder.

After all, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’)” (Galatians 3:13).  God, through the wise King Solomon said, “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest’ (Proverbs 26:2).

When King Balak asked the prophet Balaam to curse Israel, God gave Balaam these words for the king.  “How can I curse those whom God has not cursed?  How can I denounce those whom the Lord has not denounced?” (Numbers 23:8).  The same words apply to every follower of Jesus Christ.  God has not cursed those who call upon the name of Jesus Christ and have accepted Him as Lord and Savior of their lives.  As Apostle Paul proclaimed, Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross has redeemed us from the curse of the law and any such proclamation by government officials or others—who do so knowingly or unknowingly—is of no effect.

As believers, we need to confess and proclaim, “‘No weapon formed against [me/us] shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against [me/us] in judgment [I/we] shall condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,’ says the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17).

Remember, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).  “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,” Paul asserted, “but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15).

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them [the evil antichrist spirits], because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Our responsibility as believers in dealing with curses does not end with these beliefs and proclamations.  We are to pray for those who curse us.  “Let them curse, but You bless; when they arise, let them be ashamed, but let Your servant rejoice” (Psalm 109:28).  Jesus also told His followers, “bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:28).

No matter what we endure or outcome, we must proclaim loud and clear, “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.  Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,” (Psalm 107:1-2).

As a reminder, put on the whole armor of God (see Ephesians 6:10-18).

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.

A Final Note.  Biden and his ilk are devoid of real solutions and encouragement, and high on scare tactics to enhance the fear among the populace—clear signs of weak, yet debased leadership.  If they really believed in following the science, they would follow the science of centuries on abortion, on gender (male & Female, that’s it), LGBTQ+ (the only sex is between a male and female in a God-ordained union), and, dare I say, climate change.  Following the science for the political left is not following the science at all.  It is just a scam among many to gain control over the people and their freedom of thought and action.

The Party of Slavery, White Supremacy, Segregation, Suppression & Racism. At an August, 2019 campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa, in an attempt at a roaring finish to his speech, Joe Biden wrapped it up with this phrase, “We choose truth over facts” (1). Well, facts are stubborn critters, as is the truth. So, let’s look at the facts as a window into the truth about the Democrats and racism. Black lives DO NOT matter to most Democrat politicians (except to get their vote).

In a recent attempt to try and show that they are really concerned about Black lives, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and other Democrats in Congress donned the African kinte cloth scarf in a supposed show of solidarity with Blacks on June 8 after the death of George Floyd. In a twist of irony and an illustration of the Democrats’ lack of knowledge of African-American history, it was discovered that the kinte cloth was historically worn by the Asante (or Ashante) people of Ghana who were engaged in the slave trade in the late 1600s and early 1700s (2).

The Democratic Party has always been the political party of slavery, white supremacy, segregation, suppression and racism toward America’s Black citizens. That is the hard truth that Democrat voters are either ignorant of, or refuse to accept. That America’s Black population started voting for democrats en masse was a result of the schemes of the Democratic Party headed by Lyndon Johnson in the mid-1960s (more on that later).

Formation of the Democratic Party. America’s first president, George Washington, strongly opposed and warned against a two party political system in the United States. “Washington detested the fractious and partisan two party political system that he saw developing under his administration. He saw it as destructive and unhealthy for the country. The party system of government, he foresaw, had the potential to go beyond the normal political checks and balances and rip the power of self-government out of the hands of the citizens” (3). In his written farewell address of September 17, 1796, Washington expressed his opinions about an emerging two-party system.

There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the government and serve to keep alive the spirit of liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in governments of a monarchical cast, patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.

In the 1790s, the Democratic-Republican Party was founded by staunch anti-federalists, Thomas Jefferson (author of the Declaration of Independence) and James Madison (Father of the U.S. Constitution). The anti-federalists were against big government controlling the citizens. Before the end of the century, political factions split the Democratic-Republican Party into what became the Jeffersonian Republicans and the (Alexander) Hamilton Federalists. However, by 1816, the Federalist Party disappeared, leaving only the Democratic-Republican Party. That changed in the 1820s with the rising popularity of the strong Federalist, Andrew Jackson. By the mid-1820s, the Democratic-Federalist Party split into two factions, the National Republicans (or Anti-Jacksonians) and the Democrats. With the election of Jackson as President in 1828, the Democrats solidified their position and Jackson became the first Democratic president in January, 1829 and formerly established the Democratic Party (4, 5).

If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare, they may take the care of religion into their own hands; they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision of the poor; they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads; in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress… Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America.

Speech before Congress

In keeping with Federalist ideals, Democrats have always stood for greater government intervention in the lives of the American people. The Republicans have stood for more limited government. Since the 1890s, the Democrats have become more socially liberal, while the Republicans are more conservative on those issues. Throughout the 1800s and well into the latter part of the 1900s, the Democrats firmly supported slavery and opposed every effort and federal legislation to free Black citizens from oppression and bondage. In 1854, Democrat Stephen Douglas, who would become the presidential opposition to Lincoln in 1860, sponsored legislation known as the Kansas-Nebraska Act that permitted settlers in the Western Territories to decide on the issue of slavery. This enraged northern abolitionists and resulted in the establishment of the Republican Party on March 24, 1854 in Ripon, WI. Abraham Lincoln became the first Republican President in 1861.

Lincoln despised slavery, and looked upon it as immoral and unchristian. “If the negro [sic] is a man, why then my ancient faith teaches me that ‘all men are created equal;’ and that there can be no moral right in connection with one man’s making a slave of another,” he reasoned in his powerful Peoria, Illinois speech on October 16, 1854 (6). Lincoln established the Republican Party as the abolitionist, anti-slave party, while the Democrats resolutely held on to the pro-slavery mindset.

Contrast Lincoln’s position on slavery with his Democratic presidential opponent of 1860, Stephen Douglas, who opened the first of seven Lincoln-Douglas debates in Ottawa, IL on August 21, 1858 with this proclamation: “I do not regard the Negro as my equal, and positively deny that he is my brother or any kin to me whatever” (7).

Lincoln won the presidential vote and took office in early 1861.* In the midst of the bloody Civil War, largely over the issue of slavery, Lincoln made his declaration on slavery on January 1, 1863. The following is an excerpt of what became known as Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

That on the first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; and the Executive Government of the United States, including the military and naval authority thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of such persons, and will do no act or acts to repress such persons, or any of them, in any efforts they may make for their actual freedom (8).

At its inception, the primary goal of the Republican Party was to block the spread of slavery into the Western territories and the eventual abolition of slavery throughout the nation. That goal was dealt a serious blow with the Dred Scott v. Sanford Supreme Court decision of March, 1857, which ruled that slaves were not “citizens” but “property” and, therefore, could be denied the rights of citizens (9). Seven Democratic justices voted for this horrendous ruling; two Republican justices voted against it.

Three months before the Confederate General, Robert E. Lee, surrendered his troops to Union forces on April 9, 1865, a Republican-led Congress passed the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery on January 31, 1865. One hundred percent of the Republicans supported the amendment, but only 23 percent of Democrats did (10).

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Amendment XIII

Fourteen months after the end of the Civil War, Congress passed the 14th Amendment on June 13, 1866. Section 1 of the five section amendment proclaimed:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the States wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

No Democrats supported the amendment, while 94 percent of Republicans voted for it. On February 26, 1869, Congress passed the 15th Amendment guaranteeing all citizens of the United States the right to vote.

Again, not one Democrat voted for the amendment, but all Republicans did. Decidedly, the Democratic Party had firmly established itself as the anti-freedom, anti-Negro party, and continues as such to this day.

Facts are Stubborn Revealers of Inconvenient Truth. If you are a Democrat (or an anti-Trumper), I challenge you, if you have the intestinal fortitude for the truth, to watch the 5 ½ minute video, The Inconvenient Truth about the Democratic Party, by the Prager Institute and narrated by Carol Swain, Professor of Political Science & Law, Vanderbilt University (11). It just might knock your socks off. But, just in case you are not brave enough, I will summarize the key points for you, and then some.

At the beginning of the Prager video, Professor Swain minces no words. “Since its founding in 1829, the Democratic Party has fought against every major civil rights initiative and has a long history of discrimination.”

According to Professor Swain, the Democrats of history defended slavery, started the Civil War to defend it, opposed Reconstruction which enforced the civil rights of freed slaves, founded the Ku Klux Klan, imposed segregation throughout the South (even up into the 1970s), perpetrated the lynching of Black people and the murder of White civil rights protestors, and fought against the multiple civil rights acts of the mid-twentieth century.

Only six days after the end of the Civil War, John Wilkes Booth (a Democrat) assassinated President Lincoln. Andrew Johnson, Lincoln’s vice president and a Southern Democrat took over as President of the United States (1865-1869). He quickly opposed Lincoln’s plan to reintegrate the freed slaves into Southern society. Johnson vehemently led the Democratic opposition to the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments.

Immediately after passage of the 13th Amendment, former slave states and their cities started passing “Jim Crow” laws that effectively segregated the freed slaves from White society. Many of these laws were still in effect de facto well into the 1960s. When this author naively went to college in South Carolina in the early 1960s, the Black population was still heavily discriminated against. Blacks could only have menial jobs at $0.50 per hour (Min. wage was $1.00); they were forbidden from eating at the same restaurants as Whites or use the same rest room or drinking fountain; they could not attend movie showings with Whites or attend their schools or colleges. Even in the early 1970s, when the author was involved in a Christian ministry in Georgia, Blacks were still being denied equal access to primary education and housing—all because of Democrat-controlled school boards and administrators, and Democratic politics.

During Reconstruction (1865-1877) when federal troops were stationed in the South to secure the rights of freed slaves, hundreds of Blacks were elected to Southern legislatures as Republicans. By 1900, 22 Black men had served or were serving in the U.S. Congress as Republicans. It would not be until 1935 when a Black man was elected as a Democrat to serve in the U.S. Congress.

However, immediately after the end of Reconstruction, Southern Democrats assumed power once again and started instituting the “Black Codes” (aka, Jim Crow laws) to reestablish their White supremacy throughout the South. These “codes” prevented Blacks from owning property or running businesses, instituted “poll taxes” and “literacy tests” to suppress the Black vote. It was all enforced by terror, lynching and murder and mostly carried out by members of the Ku Klux Klan, founded on December 24, 1865 (12). Led by former Confederate Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forest (a Democrat) as the first Grand Wizard, the KKK carried on a reign of terror against Blacks and their White sympathizers and supporters. Elements of the KKK still exist today.

In effect, the Klan was a military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party (Eric Foner, Prof. of History, Columbia University).

During the Woodrow Wilson presidency (Democrat, 1912-1921), Wilson shared many of the views of the KKK and re-segregated many of the federal agencies.

During the 1920s, “Republicans repeatedly introduced bills in the House to make lynching a federal crime, but they were defeated by the Southern block. In 1920 the Republicans made an anti-lynching bill part of their platform and achieved passage in the House by a wide margin. Southern Democrats in the Senate repeatedly filibustered the bill to prevent a vote, and defeated it in the 1922, 1923 and 1924 sessions as they held the rest of the legislative program hostage” (13). Imagine, Democrats opposed the horrific act of lynching of another human being without any due process.

Democrats have vehemently fought against every civil rights act introduced in Congress. In the 1960 Civil Rights Act, expanding the protections of Black voting rights, the Democrats filibustered in an attempt to defeat the bill. In the end, it passed with 89 percent of Republicans and 52 percent of Democrats in the House supporting it. In the Senate, it passed 71-18 with all Republicans voting for it and the 18 no votes were all Democrat (14).

In 1964, it was the Republicans in the Senate that introduced and passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, despite the blockage attempt of the Senate Democrats (15). When the Republicans fought for the Voting Rights Act of 1965, 94 percent of the House Republicans supported it, but 27 percent of Democrats still opposed it (16).

All Black Lives Matter. Despite the clear history of the Democratic Party and its anti-Black and anti-Civil Rights stance, the vast majority of America’s Black population still supports the Democratic Party. Why? Enter Democrat Lyndon Johnson, the successor to the assassinated John F. Kennedy in the fall of 1963. Johnson, a southern Democrat from Texas, did not hold Blacks in high esteem. In a biography written by Doris Kearn Goodwin, Johnson is quoted saying:

These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference (17).

Under Johnson and the Democrats since, the party of welfare has destroyed the Black family and destroyed personal responsibility and the incentive to succeed and be a contributing member of society. Blacks that break out of the Democratic-imposed image are deemed “Uncle Toms”, uppity or looking down on their “kind.”

In 1916, the organization that Democrats strongly support at all costs, Planned Parenthood, was founded by Margaret Sanger, an Irish nurse. Sanger was a racist through and through and saw birth control as a means of controlling the Black population. In a letter to a supporter in 1939, Sanger wrote, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population” (18). I expect every Democrat will scream “foul” and deny this, but the outcome over the decades cannot be denied.

According to statistics accumulated by The Radiance Foundation, abortion is the leading killer of Black lives, not the police, not drugs, not gang wars, not disease, but ABORTION (19). According to Radiance, 259,366 [sic; 259,336] black Americans are killed by abortion each year. This death toll is greater than every other leading cause of death for black Americans combined.

Abortion No. 1 killer of Blacks

In June, 2020, LifeNews reported, Abortion-induced deaths of the unborn in the black community are 69 times higher than HIV deaths, 31 times higher than (all other) homicides, 3.6 times higher than cancer-related deaths, and 3.5 times higher than deaths caused by heart disease (20).

According to the latest CDC abortion statistics, there were 638,169 abortions in the U.S. in 2019 (21). Based on that figure and the Radiance figure, that would mean that over 40 percent of abortions performed are on Black women who represent only an estimated 6.6 percent of the U.S. population. Quite a disparity. Clearly, Black lives do not really matter to Democrats and the majority of their supporters.

Yet, the majority of Blacks still vote for Democrats. Why? First, Democrats relentlessly accuse Republicans of everything of which they are guilty. They adhere to the proven strategy that, if you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it (because they will not take the time to seek the truth themselves). Second, while it has been the failed policies of the Democrats that have kept Blacks down and in bondage, it has, at the same time flooded them with all kinds of social welfare to keep them on the Democratic plantation and gravy train. Massive (as in trillions of dollars) of Democratic social welfare has done nothing but decimate the Black community for six decades. Democrats have denied Blacks school choice, thus confining them to failed public schools in Democratic-run cities throughout the country. In addition, politically correct policing of Black communities has left law-abiding Blacks defenseless against Black-on-Black crime.

No, Democrats do not care about Blacks, they just pander to the Black community every election cycle. Disgraceful! Hateful! Racist!

In the election of November 6, 1860 where Abraham Lincoln defeated his racist, pro-slavery opponent, Democrat Stephen Douglas, Lincoln received less than 40 percent of the popular vote (due to four candidates), but won the election in a “landslide” of 180 electoral votes due to the much higher population in the Northern states that favored the abolition of slavery. Imagine what the future might have held if the popular vote won that election. The same was true in 2016 and could be in 2020.

Lincoln’s Proclamation Calling for a National Fast Day

March 30, 1863

Senator James Harlan of Iowa, whose daughter later married President Lincoln’s son Robert, introduced this Resolution in the Senate on March 2, 1863. The Resolution asked President Lincoln to proclaim a national day of prayer and fasting. The Resolution was adopted on March 3, and signed by Lincoln on March 30, one month before the fast day was observed.

A Proclamation.

Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation.

And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.

And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!

It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th. day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.

All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
