Preaching ‘hate’ for Islam, speaker arrives in a divided Willmar
NPRNews, November 7, 2019

Controversial speaker draws twice the crowd
West Central Tribune, Willmar, MN, November 8, 2019

(Willmar, MN) Now, after the blaring headlines, the rest of the story. For two weeks prior to the appearance of Usama Dakdok, an Egyptian born American evangelist to Muslims and founder of The Straight Way of Grace Ministry, the Willmar, MN interfaith group tried their best to shut the event down. Failing to do so, a local “concerned” citizen launched a Face Book page that garnered almost 500 followers in an effort to get anti-Dakdok interfaithers to show up and protest the evening of the event on November 7.

It did not matter to the media and the protesters that virtually none of them had ever heard Pastor Dakdok in person. The declaration of the local paper, the West Central Tribune, was that Dakdok was an “Islamophobic individual,” a Muslim hater and racist. The primary source of their outrage and that of the interfaithers was a posting on the website of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). CAIR, which promotes itself as an Islamic civil rights group, is a Muslim Brotherhood front organization and unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial in late 2008. Not a real reliable source of information about those who oppose it or speak out about Islam.

Dakdok.20191107_180026

The event was sponsored by THEE Book Club in Willmar, a small group of concerned evangelical Christians who want to understand Islam and how to reach out to Muslims. The group was formed over a year ago and has brought a number of Christian and patriotic speakers to the region. Heidi Jo Fragerlie-Ahmann, the main spokesperson for the Club, opened the evening with her personal testimony, which was quite moving and appropriately led into the topic for the evening.

An hour before the event, interfaithers and a large number of Somali showed up to protest with signs and bullhorn in hand. They formed two long lines from the building entrance to the parking lot at Kennedy Elementary, in essence creating an intimidating gauntlet for event attendees. Nevertheless, an estimated 150 interested people attended. Surprisingly, but most welcomed, were about two dozen or more Somali attendees who stayed throughout Pastor Dakdok’s two-plus hour presentation.

Dakdok did not soften his anti-Islamic ideology message, despite the presence of the Somali attendees. Throughout his strong message of concern about Islam’s tenets of belief as expressed in the Qur’an and other Islamic sacred texts, Islamic law and worldwide terrorism by Islam’s adherents, the Somali attendees remained calm and attentive.

At varying periods during the presentation a half-dozen or so Somali visited with THEE Book Club supporters in the lobby. True interfaith dialogue occurred as individual Somali were able to express their feelings, concerns and experiences. At the same time, Christian attendees were able to express love and compassion and at the same time share words of Biblical insight. Biblical and Qur’anic concepts were shared and compared and questions answered about Christian beliefs. Clearly, some Somali were searching for answers and understanding.

Dakdok.20191107_213019

Perhaps the most telling moment of the event occurred at the end, long after the media left and had formed its foregone conclusion—that Dakdok is an anti-Muslim hate monger. However, to his credit, after his passionate presentation, Dakdok opened the time for attendees to ask questions. Many Somali took the opportunity to express their concerns, quote the Qur’an and provide opposing positions to Dakdok. The dialogue that occurred, while not necessarily supporting Somali Islamic beliefs, was cordial and respectful.

The dialogue was apparently so intriguing, that after the meeting room cleared out, about a dozen Somali, Pastor Dakdok, and a few THEE Book Club supporters stayed and continued to have an enthusiastic and friendly discussion about Islamic and Christian beliefs. This after-event gathering continued for over an hour. It was a time of true interfaith dialogue where both Christian and Islam adherents came together to share their perspectives and understandings about their strong beliefs. Verses from both the Qur’an and Bible were freely shared. Somali felt free to express their beliefs, while Christians were free to share their testimonies and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Jesus of the Bible IS NOT the Jesus of the Qur’an

November 5, 2019

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

2 John 1:7

I Love Jesus Because I’m Muslim! That is the new assailant message of Islam in Europe and America and it is being widely embraced by the interfaith crowd. Let me be clear on two things: First, Muslims do not love the real Jesus of the Bible and, second, the Jesus of the Qur’an is not the Jesus of the Bible or the Son of God that Christ followers adore and worship.

According to the November 1, 2019 online issue of the Nashville Tennessean (https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/religion/2019/11/01/islamic-center-of-tennessee-is-bringing-a-traveling-exhibit-on-jesus-to-nashville/3998069002/), Islamists throughout America have shifted into high gear with the overt aid of the dhimmi (those living under Islamic rule) interfaith groups in full blown assault against anyone, including devout followers of Christ, who dare to try and speak the truth about Islam.

Note, in the banner to the left, they are also proselytizing America’s large Spanish-speaking population. In many cases, among Spanish heritage Roman Catholics, it is not a hard sell, since the Vatican asserts that Catholics and Muslims are “brothers and sisters” that share the same God and Abrahamic lineage.

The Jesus of the Bible, whom true Christians follow:

Islam in America’s Universities

James F. Gauss

Islam has also fully invaded many Christian colleges, universities and seminaries with school religious departments hiring Muslims to teach vulnerable and gullible students the validity of Islam as a world belief system. Or, they have Christian professors teaching courses on Islam and its validity and similarity to Christianity.

A case in point (there are many that could be cited) is Robert F. Shedinger, Professor of Religion at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. In 2009, Shedinger published a book with the provocative title, Was Jesus a Muslim?: Questioning Categories in the Study of Religion. I confess that I have not read his book, but I watched a YouTube interview he gave on his book. In the interview Shedinger said he was challenged by a Muslim student on his understanding of Islam. After much research, he answered his own question (the title of the book) and concluded that, indeed, “Yes, even as a Christian, I have to say yes to that.” He further concluded, Islam is not a religion but a “social justice movement and that was what Jesus was all about.” So, according to Shedinger, Jesus was a Muslim in the sense of being a social justice warrior just like Muhammad. For Shedinger, Jesus was all about social justice, not about preaching a Gospel of repentance and salvation, something that Muhammad knew nothing about and, in fact, preached the dead opposite. No wonder Lutherans are all in on interfaith dialogue with Muslims. Shedinger’s whole purpose is to find ways for Muslims and Christians to ignore their theological differences and unite on purely social justice issues—issues which Muslims and Bible-believing Christians are diametrically opposed.

In 2015, Professor Shedinger followed up this effort with another offensive title, Jesus and Jihad: Reclaiming the Prophetic Heart of Christianity and Islam. No, I have not read this book either, but here is what the promotion for it says, in part, on Amazon:

When rescued from his Christian pietistic misinterpretations, Jesus emerges as a highly prophetic figure of resistance to the injustices authorized by Roman imperial power. As Muslims reengage an authentic understanding of jihad, and Christians, through a renewed understanding of jihad, meet the prophetic Jesus from whom they have become estranged, a new era of Christian-Muslim cooperation in the struggle against injustice can become the norm, replacing the current antipathy dividing these communities with a passion to reclaim once again a prophetic heart in service to a hurting world. “”Shedinger is at it again, making high-order conceptual mischief for the sake of interreligious wisdom. In this gem of a book, he brilliantly argues that Jesus was a jihadi. Shedinger makes this provocative claim because he wants Christians to learn that ‘jihad’ is spiritual and social struggle against every form of injustice. Shedinger shows that Christians desperately need this Muslim wisdom in order to be truly Christian. A must-read!”” –John J. Thatamanil, Associate Professor of Theology and World Religions, Union Theological Seminary.

Notably, this book has received one 5-star rating—from a Muslim.

So, not only was Jesus a social justice warrior, but he was a jihadi in the image of Muhammad. Good grief! Such heresy! No wonder university students are confused and being turned into social justice druggies with no concept or understanding of true Christianity or true Islam. One must read Understanding Islam in the Light of Christianity to get the accurate and Biblical view of Christianity and Islam; Jesus and Muhammad and Islam’s true view and understanding of jihad.

Across the United States Islamic research institutes, funded by the royal family of Saudi Arabia have crept into such prestigious American institutions of higher learning as American University in Washington, D.C., Duke University, Howard University, John Hopkins University, Georgetown University, Syracuse University and many other institutions of higher learning. To demonstrate their infinite capacity for compassion toward the U.S. after the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Saudis shortly thereafter pledged one billion U.S. dollars—not for the victims of the attacks, but—to evangelize American college campuses and prisons in order to gain more terrorist converts to their radical brand of Wahhabi Islam. Establishment of such institutes and mosques is much more wide spread across Europe where Islam is rapidly gaining a solid foothold.

The degree and ease with which Islam has crept into America’s primary and secondary school systems in the early 21st century is scary and mind-blowing. It has been facilitated by ignorant and clueless staff, administrators, school boards, boards of trustees and mostly ignored by parents and communities. The rapid surge has been largely funded and implemented by the Arab kingdoms of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which possess two of the most radical forms of Islam.

In the past few years, as reported by Foreign Schools Gift and Contracts Report (https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/about/data-center/school/foreign-gifts), from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2018 a large number of American universities received hundreds of millions in donations and “contract” monies from Muslim countries—mostly Arab countries and mainly Saudi Arabia and Qatar. While the largest portion of the monies received is designated as “contracts,” presumably for tuition and fees for foreign Muslim students, there was also millions designated as “gifts” and research.

For instance, the University of Arkansas, in a four year period, from June 30, 2013 to June 30, 2017, took in $49.648 million from just three Muslim countries, Iraq, Kurdistan and Saudi Arabia. Over $40 million came from the Republic of Iraq, Higher Committee. Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Maryland, from January 30, 2012 to June 1, 2018, received almost $64 million from over 20 Muslim countries—all of it designated as “monetary gifts.” George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia received $64.875 million noted as “contracts” from January 23, 2012 to July 31, 2017. The great majority came from the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

The Associated Press, in analyzing the data, determined that at least $354 million went to 37 American institutions of higher learning from the Saudi Arabia alone—government or its controlled institutions—since 2011. Most of the money was for Saudi students attending various schools. Another $114 million was not accounted for as a result of some schools not disclosing the specific source of Saudi Arabian funding. This included $40 million to Johns Hopkins University and $28 million to Harvard University.

As reported in The Daily Caller on October 31, 2018, during the period of 2011-2016, Georgetown University (a Jesuit school) received almost $400 million from 18 foreign countries. However, 86.3 percent or $344-plus million came from five Muslim countries, of which Qatar was the largest contributor with $332.8 million.

In another attempt to control the campus narrative on Islam, the Muslim Students Association of the United States and Canada (MSA) or MSA National was established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in 1963 on the campus of the University of Illinois. The MSA is essentially a sect of the radical Wahhabi brand of Islam of Saudi Arabia and is heavily supported by the Saudis. As of 2018 there were an estimated 600 U.S. campus chapters of MSA.

In the opinion of Alex Alexiev, of the Center for Security Policy, “The Saudis over the years set up a number of large front organizations, such as the Al Haramain Foundation, the Muslim World League, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, and a great number of Islamic ‘charities.’

“MSA National was the precursor of ISNA [the Islamic Society of North America], ICNA [the Islamic Circle of North America], MAYA [the Muslim Arab Youth Association], IMA [the Islamic Medical Association of North America], AMSS [the Association of Muslim Social Scientists], AMSE [the Association of Muslim Scientists and Engineers], MYNA [Muslim Youth of North America], Islamic Book Service, and the North American Islamic Trust.”

“The majority of Muslim Student Associations at U.S. colleges are dominated by Islamist and anti-American agendas, as are most of the numerous Islamic centers and schools financed by the Saudis. Intolerance and outright rejection of American values and democratic ideals are often taught also in the growing number of Deobandi schools that are frequently subsidized by the Saudis.”

Islamophobia—for University Credit. In a publication called, Higher Education Today, one of the two authors who was a “higher education administrator,” shared a distasteful experience she had with the parent of a prospective student. She classified it as an “Islamophobic” incident. She and her co-author went on to write:

Muslim Americans and international Muslim students on campuses around the country experience blatant Islamophobia and microaggressions in many forms. Research shows microaggressions include stares in public, feelings of alienation and assumptions of religious homogeneity. Unfortunately, such experiences are often a reflection of the negative attitudes toward Muslims held by a significant portion of society.

No doubt her experience was distasteful, inappropriate and hurtful, but in no way did it represent “a significant portion of society.” Accusations of Islamophobia has become the new catch phrase for everything distasteful or assumed to be negative about Muslims. It has become what anti-Semitism has been for the Jews. There are, indeed, way too many people, who are small-minded and hateful, that take out their frustrations on others they perceive to be offended by, but that is the exception in America, not the rule. America and Americans are still among the most accepting, generous and compassionate people, often going the second and third mile to be kind or help someone in need.

In going to, what would appear to be the extreme on the issue of Islamophobia, prestigious Georgetown University has established a whole curriculum around the subject. It is, of course, supported with a generous donation of $20 million from the Saudi royal family to the school’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU), houses the “Bridge Initiative” and the “research project” on “the problem of Islamophobia.”

It is surprising, that among higher academics, no one seems to have discovered that Islam is not a race. Islam is an ideology made up of people from many ethnic and racial backgrounds. Some of the “key terms” listed in the Syllabus that are presumably catch words or offensive, include: Anti-Muslim Racism, Capitalism, Colonialism, Countering Violent Extremism, Empire, Gender Violence, Gender, Homonationalism, Islamophobia, Patriot Act and a host of other words or phrases. The Syllabus is too lengthy to review here, but the reader is encouraged to visit the website linked to this reference.

I will close with this absurdity. Todd Starnes, of Fox News, reported in March, 2018, that to sneeze in the library of Simmons College in Boston, and someone says, “God bless you” it could be considered an “Islamophobic microaggression.”

In 2017, a sophomore student, Marshall Polston, at Rollins College in Florida was suspended because he challenged his Muslim professor who asserted that the crucifixion of Jesus never happened.

“Our university should be a place where free-speech flashes and ideas can be spoken of without punishment or fear of retribution,” Polston stated.

The Muslim professor claimed that she felt threatened by Polston’s comments, and without due process, he was disciplined by the school.

Islam in America’s Schools–The Plan

Why are you Persecuting Me?

September 9, 2019

why are you persecuting me

James F. Gauss

Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way [Christians], whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem (Acts 9:1-2).

These two verses in Acts 9 give us a good picture of the anti-Christ character and motivation of Saul, the Pharisee, the zealot persecutor of first century Christians. Saul was a devout, well-educated Jew who was determined and passionate about wiping out the Jewish infidels and their newly found faith in Jesus Christ as the fulfilled coming of the Jewish messiah. Saul was the first documented anti-Christ antagonist after the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Fast-forward about 600 years and another anti-Christ zealot arose in the person of Muhammad. Through his new found ideology of Islam he and his followers, then and today, have become the chief anti-Christ protagonists worldwide. Today, Muslim zealots represent the largest group of persecutors of Christians (and Jews) throughout the world—whether the Christians or Jews live in their own country of nativity or in Muslim nations.

Muslims are commanded to persecute Christians by Allah, their god, in their sacred book, the Qur’an and by Islamic (shari’a) law. Over fourteen hundred years ago, Islam was birthed and raised up as an anti-Christ spirit of opposition and persecution against Christians. For over twelve centuries, the Church clearly recognized this anti-Christ force and strongly opposed it. Today, however, many church denominations and more “enlightened” Christians and their leaders have come along side this anti-Christ spirit, proclaiming that they and the anti-Christ followers worship the same god and have a common heritage. The devil has clearly blinded the eyes of fools and seduced them into heresy.

So, what happened to Saul? He was a young man on a mission—a mission to destroy Christ followers. He believed fervently that he was doing God’s biding. In his hot pursuit after these Christians, Saul was on the Damascus Road from Jerusalem to Damascus. It was about a 150 mile dusty journey, but Saul was determined to bring every Christian he found back to Jerusalem in chains.

Saul confronted by Christ. As he [Saul] journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”

Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”

So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”

Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank (Acts 9:3-9).

Why are you persecuting Me? Jesus asked Saul. Saul’s meek reply was simply, “Who are you Lord?” Saul had no knowledge of the very one he was persecuting. He was pursuing Jesus followers out of blind ignorance and hatred. Muslims today, as in fourteen centuries past, are indirectly or directly pursuing Christians with the anti-Christ edicts of the Qur’an and the teachings of their false prophet, Muhammad. Islam has become the largest anti-Christ, anti-Jew movement the world has ever seen. However, for the first time, Muslim loyalists have been successful in recruiting Christians to join them in persecuting other Christians and Jews. Jesus must be weeping at this travesty occurring within the Church body that He died for two thousand years ago. A vast number of those that are supposed to represent Christ and His Gospel to a dying world have become today’s Sauls. Once again, Christ is crying out, “Why are you persecuting Me?”

In his first letter directed at new Christians, the Apostle John wrote, “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us [the Church], but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us” (1 John 2:18-19). Those in the Church who have aligned themselves with Muslims through the Interfaith Dialogue with Muslims movement have enjoined themselves with the anti-Christ spirit that opposes Christ. They have not only enlisted in the battle against the Church, but are standing shoulder to shoulder with those who follow the anti-Christ and oppose the one and only true Gospel of truth and salvation.

Of course, those who stand against such heresy are demeaned by such epithets as “haters,” “Islamophobes,” or “racists.” However, the Apostle John would have a different reply for those remaining faithful to Christ. “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also” (1 John 2:20-23). Muslims are taught to clearly reject God as Father and Jesus Christ as His Son. By associating with Muslims and affirming their anti-Christ ideology as being valid, Interfaithers have also rejected God as Father and Jesus Christ as His Son.

“Therefore,” John continued, “let that [truth] abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.
“These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him” (1 John 2:24-27).
There is a great battle raging for the soul of the Church and those who elect to follow Christ. Those who chose to align themselves with anti-Christ followers are coming against those who chose to remain loyal to Jesus Christ and His Gospel of salvation—the only Gospel there is to be preached to the lost.

“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels” (Mark 8:34-38).

This is the go-to resource on Islam from a Christian perspective.  It is designed to provide everything one needs to know about Islam, the greatest challenge of the 21st century for the Church and the Christian community.  An invaluable compendium for homeschooling parents and organizations, church pastors and leaders, Christian schools, universities and seminaries.  If you truly want to reach the Muslim community with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ or just want to be more knowledgeable about what is happening in the world, the West and America, this is a must resource book for your library. After nearly 20 years of research, Dr. Gauss has put together a one of a kind resource that is designed to educate Christian leaders/teachers on the unadulterated truth about Islam and the extreme challenge it presents to the Church and the Christian community and how Muslims can be presented with the truth of the Gospel without the Church lowering itself to “Common Ground” or “Interfaith Dialogue.” Understanding Islam in the  Light of Christianity A comparison of the Messenger, Message and Mission of the Qur’an and the Bible  An Invaluable Compendium By James F. Gauss, Ph.D. Author of Islam & Christianity, A Revealing Contrast.

Dr. Gauss, in this profound study, is upholding the truth of the Gospel, revealing the fallacies of a false religion. His pen is sharp but the imprint of his spirit is marked with compassion and love for a lost people who believe they are worshipping the one true God.

I commend Dr. Gauss on writing such an informative book bringing out the darkness that covers every page of the Quran and delusions of the Islamic faith.

May there be more voices such as Dr. Gauss proclaiming the truth of God with boldness and in the spirit of Christ. And may we witness freedom for millions of Muslims who are bound by a dark and evil force!

Culture of Death

March 7, 2018

Every time there is a mass shooting or some horrific event in the United States involving guns, some (usually Democratic or leftist) politician or leftist talking head on television will boldly proclaim that America has become a “culture of death”.

I agree, but not for the same brash pontificating reasons they promulgate.   America, indeed, has become a culture of death, but it started long before the first mass shooting at a school.  Conspicuously absent from the culture of death dialogue on the left is the fact that God, the Bible and prayer have been stripped from our nation’s schools and the killing of the innocent has become the law of the land.

I would put forth that it started the day in 1963 when prayer was outlawed in U.S. schools.  (I remember clearly that when I was in first grade in public school in the late 1940s that we started each day with a reading from Psalms or Proverbs, a recitation of the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.)  Prayer and then Bible reading were ripped from the children of America via three Supreme Court decisions in 1962 (Engel vs. Vitale) and in 1963 (Murray vs. Curlett and Abington Township School District vs. Schempp).  In all three cases, the High Court, led by liberal Chief Justice, Earl Warren, erroneously and boldly misinterpreted the First Amendment and cited the non-existing doctrine of separation of church and state that does not exist anywhere in the U.S. Constitution.  Essentially, the Supreme Court of the land was telling the nation’s children that Almighty God had no place in their life – no grounding of absolute truth; and no moral compass by which to judge one’s life.*

Then came the horrific Supreme Court ruling on  January 22, 1973 in Rowe vs. Wade that gave women in America the right to kill their unborn children.  Since that ungodly decision, American women/mothers have killed or allowed to be killed over 60 million of their babies – 60 MILLION!  So, what lesson did (and does) this teach America’s youth? That life is not worth much.  If your own mother can chose to end your life, then what is life worth?  NOTHING!  “So, why should I care about someone else’s life or my own?”

Abortion is a form of child sacrifice that God calls evil (see Leviticus 18:21, 20:1-5 and 1 Kings 11:5-8).   The debate from the left on what constitutes a human life in the mother’s womb is a non-issue as far as I am concerned and as far as God is concerned.  In the Bible, God declares that, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you . . .” (Isaiah 49:1, 5).  The left can argue all it wants about when a life is a life, but it is God who has stated that a life begins when He has conceived of it.

On top of these sweeping events affecting our nation’s children who become aggressive adults is the onslaught of violent video games and gratuitous Hollywood murder and mayhem filth that permeates our collective senses, but especially that of our youth.  Video games are no longer gratifying unless a 9 year old can blast away the humanoid of his choice or annihilate by a multitude of gruesome methods any foe he desires.  And we have the audacity to wonder why a growing number of our children are killing children or anyone else who invades their space.

One Virginia House of Delegates representative got it right in a speech before his peers on March 2, 2018.  You can watch and listen to it here.  Republican Nick Freitas (Culpepper, R-30) stated unequivocally that gun control is not the issue, the issue is the breakdown of our society.

PLEASE NOTE, the “culture of death” is not an issue of gun control or Second Amendment rights, but a mindset change on what is truly important to us as a people.  Do we want God in our lives or not?  Is murder, murder, whether of the unborn or those walking upright?  What respect for life do we truly honor and not give lip service to on a daily basis?

The great pastor and preacher, Dr. Peter Marshall, at the height of World War II gave a riveting sermon on March 11, 1944 called Trial by Fire.**  It was based on 1 Kings 18:21.  Some excerpts from that famous speech which I had the privilege of transcribing from a cassette tape his son gave me.

Materialism had a god, Dr. Marshall thundered.  His name was Baal. He offered to his devotees things that human instincts craved.  He was a god of the flesh.  His priests encouraged the people to follow their natural inclinations.  It was worship and indulgence expressed in lust and adorned in selfishness.  It had no inhibitions at all. . . .

So, morality became a relative thing.  The old absolutes were regarded as far too intolerant.  The national moral standards were lowered. . . .

It was a time now for men to take sides.  There was no middle ground.  They could not be neutral.  They had to be on one side or the other.  They had to decide whether their nation would be governed by God or ruled by tyrants. . . .

The choices you make in moral and religious questions determine the way America will go.  We badly need a prophet who will have the ear of America and who will say, “If the Lord be God, follow Him!  But if Baal, then follow him!”

President George Washington also had it right.  Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.  In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.  The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and cherish them (Farewell Speech, September 17, 1796).

**Dr. Marshall’s complete sermon is in my book above.

How Evil Works & Prevails

September 5, 2014

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Edmund Burke (1729-1797), an Irish born American, who was a staunch supporter of the American colonies’ revolution against Britain’s King George III, is credited with the above quote.  As a statesman, author, orator and political theorist he is also remembered as the founder of Anglo-American conservatism.

Burke clearly understood how evil arises and prevails among a body of people.  Today, in America, and around the world, it seems that the majority of people are ignorant, duped or just do not care about the evil in their midst.

The Judeo-Christian Bible is the standard of absolute truth for hundreds of millions of people in the United States and worldwide.  It clearly defines right from wrong; good from evil.  However, in today’s world, absolute truth is quickly falling along the wayside, even among those that claim to adhere to the biblical view of good and evil.

There are, of course, many books, sermons and teachings by renowned Bible teachers and authors.  However, there are three little known publications that offer tremendous insight into the subject of evil and how it creeps into the arena of mankind and gains a strong foothold.

The first is a short book (123 pp.) by former British evangelist and Baptist pastor, T. Austin-Sparks (1888-1971), called Strong In The Day Of Battle.  It is a powerful book on spiritual warfare and how to identify and overcome evil in ones midst.  As far as I know it is only available through Emmanuel Church, 12,000 East 14th Street, Tulsa, OK 74128-5016 or by calling (918) 838-1385.  It is made available free as arte other T. Austin-Sparks books.

The second is an equally powerful and insightful book, The Omega Prophecy, by Pastor David Anderson.  Written in 1998, it is available on Amazon.com.  This book never quite caught on but it should be a best seller and read by everyone concerned about world events today.  It is quite prophetic in foreseeing the rise of evil and terrorism as it exists today.

The third is, Mighty Prevailing Prayer, by Wesley L. Duewel.  Published in 1990, it has been edited and re-released in 2013.  The entire 44 chapter book is an essential study on the importance of prevailing prayer.  Chapters 34-44 describe the strategies of Satan and the importance of spiritual warfare to defeat him.

It is the Bible and the insight of these three authors that I rely on to present the Tactics and Strategies of the Devil and the ones he uses to promote and establish evil among mankind.

Tactics/Strategies of the Devil (The Evil One)

Anti-Christian; Anti-Jew.  Evil hates and despises Christians and Jews and would do anything to diminish their influence and wipe them off the face of the earth.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist (2 John 1:7).

Tyrannical & Intimidating.  (blog link) Evil is bellicose, confrontational, demanding and insisting on getting its way, no matter what the cost to others.  It is dictatorial, exercising totalitarian principles.

Cunning & Deceptive.   Evil is cunning, crafty and always plotting to cause disruption and chaos in the lives of others.  The more unsettled it can make society, the more Evil rejoices.    Evil diverts attention from its evil plans and deceives people into believing that a lie is the truth.  It repeatedly tries to convince others that bad is good and good is bad.

Treasonous.  Evil denies culpability while scheming to undermine the safety and security of others.  Evil puts others in harm’s way, turning a blind eye to obvious threats to personal safety.  It subverts what is best for others in the interest of a personal agenda, thus denying any allegiance or loyalty to others; it is treasonous.  God hates treason and those that commit treason, especially in violation of His word and His covenant agreement upon which the United States was founded (see Ezekiel 17:19-20).

Destroyer.  Evil is a destroyer.  It seeks to destroy what is good; what is ordained by God.  It seeks to destroy the family unit; tear it apart and cause mayhem.  It seeks to destroy innocent life and life that is still in the womb.

The lion has come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of nations is on his way. He has gone forth from his place to make your land desolate. Your cities will be laid waste, without inhabitant (Jeremiah 4:7).

Lies & Damnable Lies.  Evil pontificates and proliferates such outright lies as, “The world is less violent than it has ever been. It is healthier than it has ever been,” when the intelligent and wary observer can easily see and conclude that the world is going “to hell in a hand basket”.   Evil perpetrates the perception that all is well when it knows full well that hardship and destruction are on its way.

Jesus, in speaking to the Pharisees, said: You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44).

Divide & Conquer.  Evil seeks to divide and conquer; to pit one person against another; one group against another.  By creating disunity and sowing discord, evil scatters, demoralizes and weakens the opposition.

But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand (Matthew 12:25).

Creator of Crises.  Evil seeks to cause turmoil and enjoys creating constant conflict. It is all too ready to jump into the fray of a confrontation and take sides before it knows the facts and thus perverts justice and the rule of law.

Author of Confusion.  Evil is the author of confusion.  The more turmoil and disruption it can cause, the better in its plan to weaken society and the individual.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Where God is not allowed to exist or His influence greatly reduced, there is no peace, only confusion and mis-guidance.  Without God, sin runs rampant and society collapses.

Lawless.  Evil does not feel constrained by law.  Evil is lawless.  Evil is above the law.  The law is for others; for fools, but not for Evil.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.  And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.  The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,  and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,  that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12).

Enslavement.   Evil seeks to enslave the populace; to take away freedoms and self-determination and self-will; to gain control over the masses by making them dependent upon sources and means that evil deems best.

Falsely Accuses & Antagonistic.   Evil accuses others of wrong-doing, but constantly and consistently makes excuses for itself.  Evil blames everything and everyone else for what goes wrong in and around its life and experience.

Obfuscates the Truth.   Evil sees no absolute truth, only shades of gray or what can be manipulated into false truth for evil to obtain its objective and get its way.  Evil constantly calls evil good & good, evil.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!

Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink, who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!

Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.  (Isaiah 5:20-24)

Narcissistic & Prideful.  Evil focuses on itself; is prideful and arrogant.  Evil takes credit for the good, but denies responsibility for anything bad or displeasing.  Prideful Evil cannot and will not admit to any culpability or take any responsibility for anything that goes wrong or is wrong under its watch.

For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there (James 3:16).

Usurpation.  Evil is a usurper of all that is good; all that has been established for the benefit of the whole.   It seizes power by force that rightfully belongs to the people.  This power grab is illegal and without the agreement of the majority and in violation of established law.

Masquerades as an Angel of Light.   Evil disguises itself as an Angel of Light; a deliverer from ones woes and wants.  It promises to satisfy everyone’s  needs, wants and desires; usually at the expense of others.  And no wonder!  For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,  who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;  but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;  but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Romans 2:5-10).

This, of course, is not a complete list of the characteristics of Evil, but it gives you an idea of how Evil slips into the life of an individual or society.

If the Lord be God, follow Him!  But if Baal [false god], then follow him!

1 Kings 18:21

Islam and the Middle East

December 31, 2008

(Author’s Note: This is an excerpt from an article written in 2002 and posted on the author’s former web site.)

Will there ever be peace in the Middle East?  It is the perennial question that modern man has been asking for decades and the peace for which hope springs eternal.  But is it realistic?  Is it achievable?  Is it within the realm of God’s plan?

Islam has its root in Arabic culture mixed among the belief and tradition of Abraham and his son Ishmael fathering the Arabic tribes of the Middle East.  If both the people of Islam and those of Judeo-Christian heritage claim Abraham as their patriarch, why have they been forever at each others throats?  The answer can be found in the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.
