Prayer Out of the Schools.  The United States Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Earl Warren issued three crushing decisions on prayer in public schools.  The first was in 1962 (Engel v. Vitale) and two in 1963 (Murray v. Curlett and Abington Township School District v. Schempp). The decision to ban prayer and Bible reading from public schools was made as a result of the Supreme Court’s interpretations of the First Amendment and the “wall of separation between church and state” dogma.

In the 1962 Engel v. Vitale case the issue centered on a prayer drafted by the New York State Board of Regents.  It simply read: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.”  Although it was not a biblical prayer or denominational prayer, the parents of ten students took offense and sued the Hyde Park, New York school district claiming the prayer violated the U.S. Constitution.

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.  In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.  The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them.

The Board of Regents believed that such a non-descript, non-denominational prayer would get the students off to a good daily start and encourage good moral character, promote spiritual guidance and help overcome juvenile delinquency.  Since students were not required to participate and participation in the prayer was completely optional, the educators felt they were on solid constitutional ground.

The case was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court on April 3, 1962.  Nearly three months later the Court rendered a majority 6-1 decision on June 25.  Associate Justice Hugo Black rendered the opinion for the Court.

In part, Justice Black wrote for the majority: “This daily procedure was adopted on the recommendation of the State Board of Regents . . . they recommended and published as a part of their ‘Statement on Moral and Spiritual Training in the Schools,’ saying: ‘We believe that this Statement will be subscribed to by all men and women of good will, and we call upon all of them to aid in giving life to our program.’

“. . . We think that by using its public school system to encourage recitation of the Regents’ prayer, the State of New York has adopted a practice wholly inconsistent with the Establishment Clause. . . .”

Without citing any references, Justice Black then went on to enlist Thomas Jefferson to support his contention and conclusions about the “religious nature of prayer”.

Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.

In the paragraph containing the Court’s decision, Black wrote: “The petitioners contend among other things that the state laws requiring or permitting use of the Regents’ prayer must be struck down as a violation of the Establishment Clause because that prayer was composed by governmental officials as a part of a governmental program to further religious beliefs. For this reason, petitioners argue, the State’s use of the Regents’ prayer in its public school system breaches the constitutional wall of separation between Church and State. We agree with that contention since we think that the constitutional prohibition against laws respecting an establishment of religion

must at least mean that in this country it is no part of the business of government to compose official prayers for any group of the American people to recite as a part of a religious program carried on by government.”

Associate Justice Potter Stewart was the lone dissenting vote.  Justices Felix Frankfurter and Byron White took no part in the decision.

In part, Justice Stewart summarized the case as he saw it.  “A local school board in New York has provided that those pupils who wish to do so may join in a brief prayer at the beginning of each school day, acknowledging their dependence upon God and asking His blessing upon them and upon their parents, their teachers, and their country. The Court today decides that in permitting this brief nondenominational prayer the school board has violated the Constitution of the United States.  I think this decision is wrong.”

Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart (1915-1985)

Justice Stewart was appointed to the Court on October 14, 1958 by President Dwight Eisenhower and confirmed by the U.S. Senate the following May in a 70-17 vote.  All dissenters were Democrats.  Stewart was a centrist Republican who believed that the Warren Court misinterpreted the First Amendment “Establishment Clause” and exceeded the intentions of the Framers of the Constitution.

“The Court does not hold, nor could it,” Stewart wrote, “that New York has interfered with the free exercise of anybody’s religion. For the state courts have made clear that those who object to reciting the prayer must be entirely free of any compulsion to do so, including any ‘embarrassments and pressures.’. . .  the Court says that in permitting school children to say this simple prayer, the New York authorities have established ‘an official religion.’

“With all respect,” he continued, “I think the Court has misapplied a great constitutional principle. I cannot see how an ‘official religion’ is established by letting those who want to say a prayer say it. On the contrary, I think that to deny the wish of these school children to join in reciting this prayer is to deny them the opportunity of sharing in the spiritual heritage of our Nation. . . .”

Religion is necessary to correct the effects of learning.  Without religion I believe learning does real mischief to the morals and principles of mankind . . .

Justice Stewart went on to point out the inconsistencies of the nation’s religious observances.  “At the opening of each day’s Session of this Court we stand, while one of our officials invokes the protection of God.  Since the days of John Marshall our Crier has said, ‘God save the United States and this Honorable Court.’  Both the Senate and the House of Representatives open their daily Sessions with prayer.  Each of our Presidents, from George Washington to John F. Kennedy [then in office], has upon assuming his Office asked the protection and help of God. . . .

“In 1954 Congress added a phrase to the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag so that it now contains the words ‘one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’  In 1952 Congress enacted legislation calling upon the President each year to proclaim a National Day of Prayer.  Since 1865 the words ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’ have been impressed on our coins.”

Stewart wrote that he could list countless other examples but that his position could be summed by the fact that, “It was . . . this Court just ten years ago in a single sentence: ‘We are a religious people whose institutions presuppose a Supreme Being’” [see Zorach v. Clauson].

“I do not believe that this Court,” Stewart concluded, “or the Congress, or the President has by the actions and practices I have mentioned established an ‘official religion’ in violation of the Constitution. And I do not believe the State of New York has done so in this case.”

Chief Justice Earl Warren (1891-1974)

Warren was appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 1953 by President Dwight Eisenhower. Warren, although a Republican, was philosophically a centrist to liberal in his judicial renderings.  He served on the Court until 1969.

A year later, on the same day, the same Court (with Arthur J. Goldberg, a Democrat replacing Frankfurter) decided two other contentious cases that were argued before the Court at the same time concerning school prayer— Murray v. Curlett and Abington Township School District v. Schempp.

In the Murray v. Curlett case, Madalyn Murray O’Hair, a radical militant atheist, who was despised and hated by many Christians and fellow atheists, brought suit against the Baltimore, Maryland school board.  Like the previous complaint in New York, O’Hair sued because she claimed that her son William’s school violated the First Amendment by having students recite the “Lord’s Prayer” (Matthew 6:9-13).  She also came against the school board’s approval of the daily reading from the Bible.

14th Amendment

Section 1 [of 5]. . . . No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Passed by Congress on June 13, 1866

Before reaching the Supreme Court, a local Maryland judge, J. Gilbert Pendergast, dismissed O’Hair’s petition, saying, “It is abundantly clear that petitioners’ real objective is to drive every concept of religion out of the public school system.”  The Maryland Court of Appeals had a similar viewpoint and concluded that, “Neither the First nor the Fourteenth Amendment was intended to stifle all rapport between religion and government.”

In the Abington Township School District [of Pennsylvania] v. Schempp the complaint was similar—that the voluntary student participation in morning prayer and listening to a teacher recitation of ten verses of the Bible was unconstitutional.

In its majority 8-1 decision in both cases, with Justice Stewart once again being the lone dissenter, the Court once again cited its position as in Engel v. Vitale but with many more pages of nebulous Founder legal positions and case law.  The bottom line was that, again Thomas Jefferson’s non-binding, non-Constitutional statement on the “wall of separation between church and state” was held up as the justification for their affirmative decision for the plaintiffs.  When attorney for the petitioners, Leonard Kerpelman, used Jefferson’s statement in his presentation and implied it was in the Constitution, Justice Stewart quickly interrupted and asked him where it occurred.  A silence fell over the Court as Kerpelman was stumped for an answer.

In writing his dissent, Justice Stewart stated, in part:

I think the records in the two cases before us are so fundamentally deficient as to make impossible an informed or responsible determination of the constitutional issues presented. Specifically, I cannot agree that on these records we can say that the Establishment Clause has necessarily been violated. But I think there exist serious questions under both that provision and the Free Exercise Clause – insofar as each is imbedded in the Fourteenth Amendment – which require the remand of these cases for the taking of additional evidence.

The First Amendment declares that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . . .” It is, I think, a fallacious oversimplification to regard these two provisions as establishing a single constitutional standard of “separation of church and state,” which can be mechanically applied in every case to delineate the required boundaries between government and religion. We err in the first place if we do not recognize, as a matter of history and as a matter of the imperatives of our free society, that religion and government must necessarily interact in countless ways. Secondly, the fact is that while in many contexts the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause fully complement each other, there are areas in which a doctrinaire reading of the Establishment Clause leads to irreconcilable conflict with the Free Exercise Clause.

Religion is the only solid basis of good morals: therefore education should teach the precepts of religion, and the duties of man towards God.

Interestingly and sadly, not one Christian group, church or organization chose to file a brief in either case on behalf of prayer or Bible reading in the public schools.  However, it is important to note that these joint decisions by the Supreme Court, DID NOT, as widely believed, remove prayer or Bible reading from the public schools.  The Court only concluded that “government-sponsored” prayer and Bible reading were a violation of the “Establishment Clause” of the First Amendment.  Students in public schools are still free to pray or read the Bible on their own or to conduct or participate in prayer or Bible study groups.

In essence, what the Warren Supreme Court decided to do was to deliberately misinterpret and re-write the First Amendment.  They changed the intent of the “Establishment Clause” of the Founders and replaced it with at statement out-of-context made by Jefferson in a letter.  North Carolina’s senator at the time, Sam Ervin (1896-1985), quipped, “I should like to ask whether we would be far wrong in saying that in this decision the Supreme Court has held that God is unconstitutional and for that reason the public school must be segregated against Him?”

Perhaps ironically, O’Hair’s son, William J. Murray, became a Christian and a Baptist minister and is chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition and author of My Life Without God.

Is America the Babylon mentioned in Revelation 18?  Possibly.  One thing seems certain, the Babylon in Revelation 18 and elsewhere in Revelation is not the historic Babylon of the Old Testament or of King Nebuchadnezzar’s era.  By description, the Babylon of Revelation 18 is the epitome of a people or nation that has strayed from God and His foundational truths; rejected Him and have become prideful and arrogant, no longer needing God’s direction or input into their lives.  This Babylon represents a people whose sins are so great they seem unforgiveable and insurmountable.  They have become wealthy and have lived extravagantly and the rest of the world has depended on them for their own well being and prosperity.

The leaders of the United States, over many decades, have brought the country to the brink of destruction.  “The only sure cure for many of the ills of the modern world which men are vainly trying to remove by means of social and economic antidotes is to be found in the faith in God and loyalty to the eternal verities of religion,” stated Warren G. Harding (1865-1923), 29th President of the United States.  “The recognition of a personal God and of the individual accountability of men and women to him, for their conduct are the foundations of the highest patriotism and of those civic virtues which alone can make men and nations morally great. The human race has been getting away from its religious moorings. It needs a revival of the sincere conception of the personal relationship of God to man and man to God; a restoration of faith in the fundamentals of religion that are eternal. The world needs the assurance of faith in the Almighty, and the tranquility which comes alone of that faith. That faith in God which has made the ancient Hebrew nation great, is still needed to make nations great today.”

The story and history of America, in many ways, parallels that of ancient Israel.  As long as Israel followed God and obeyed His laws, they prospered as a people and nation.  When they chose to reject Him and follow after the dictates of their own hearts, the nation faltered and crumbled and often was overrun by their enemies.

Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:  the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today;  and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known. Deuteronomy 11:26-28

President Abraham Lincoln, in his speech on March 30, 1863, proclaiming a National Fast Day, spoke words that still ring true today.  “We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity,” he noted. “We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!” 

The Founders’ Wisdom and Insight.  When it comes to overturning or changing a tyrannical government the people only have four choices: a military coup that throws out the current occupants of office; a people’s revolution that forces the despotic leaders out; vote them out or a revolution of prayer and fasting.  The first two, while they can bring more immediate results, are not the American way and can result in bloodshed.   The third way takes time and could allow those in office to bring about even more public harm before their removal.  The last method, God’s preferred way, takes much patience, trust and faith in God to do what He desires to do (more about that in the next chapter).

Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ Ezekiel 33:11

Daniel Webster (1782-1852), author, lawyer and patriotic senator from Massachusetts, in his remarks to the U.S. Senate, June 3, 1834, said, “God grants liberty only to those who love it and are always ready to guard and defend it.”  For over two centuries American patriots have done much to fight for and defend that precious love of freedom.  The question is: Have Americans lost the will to fight for that which their forefathers were willing to spill their precious blood?

“The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican model of government,” George Washington wrote for his first inaugural address on April 30, 1789, “are justly considered deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.”

Two years prior to the Washington address, Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to John Adam’s wife, Abigail, on February 22, 1787 (Washington’s 55th birthday), wrote: “The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere.”

Although Jefferson believed wholeheartedly in constitutional law and constitutional government, he apparently also recognized the inherent weakness of man and his inability to stay the course of constitutional freedom.  He anticipated that sometime in the future the people might need to rise up once again if the people they elected strayed from constitutional authority and the will of the people.

[A] wise and frugal government . . . shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government. Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801

“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion,” Jefferson wrote on November 13, 1787, to William S. Smith, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York.  “The people cannot be all, and always, well informed.  The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. . . . And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?  Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two?  The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.  It is its natural manure.” These were strong, but closely held beliefs of the one who authored America’s Declaration of Independence.

James Madison, known as the Father of the U.S. Constitution, said before the Virginia Ratifying Convention of June 16, 1788, that, “There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.”  A few months before, Madison penned these words in Federalist No. 10 on November 23, 1787.   “[D]emocracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.”

No government, any more than an individual, will long be respected without being truly respectable; nor be truly respectable, without possessing a certain portion of order and stability.  James Madison, Federalist No. 62, February 27, 1788

John Hancock (1737-1793), the first governor of Massachusetts, whose bold signature was the first to grace the Declaration of Independence, said, “Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty [of] each individual. . . . Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.”

General George Washington, after suffering a number of military defeats at the hands of the superior British forces in the first year of the Revolutionary War in 1777 and then enduring a bitter winter at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania with his meager force of 12,000, encouraged his men on May 2, 1778 with these words:  “While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion.  To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”

In the previous year, Washington had seen his raw recruit force of 25,000 men decimated by the British.  Morale was low and his forces were weak and poorly prepared.  Yet, Washington had the foresight and fortitude to urge his men forward for the noble, patriotic cause of freedom from oppression and tyranny.

In 1824, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in the blaspheme case of Updegraph v. the Commonwealth, the court offered this opinion, in part, of the role of Christianity in the well-being of the country.

No free government now exists in the world, unless where Christianity is acknowledged, and is the religion of the country. . . . Christianity is part of the common law of this State. It is not proclaimed by the commanding voice of any human superior, but expressed in the calm and mild accents of customary law. Its foundations are broad, and strong, and deep; they are laid in the authority, the interest, the affections of the people. Waiving all questions of hereafter, it is the purest system of morality, the firmest auxiliary, and only stable support of all human laws. . . .

While our own free Constitution secures liberty of conscience and freedom of religious worship to all, it is not necessary to maintain that any man should have the right publicly to vilify the religion of his neighbours and of the country. These two privileges are directly opposed.

Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), the 28th President of the United States once offered this observation. “Liberty has never come from government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of government. The history of liberty is the history of resistance.”

The New Year: Wake Me When It’s Over

Get your favorite non-alcoholic drink and relax in your comfy chair.  This is a long one (six years in the making).

(Disclaimer:  I don’t blog that often because, quite frankly, I’m tired of all the bad news and I hate to be the bearer of even more.  But sometimes I just can’t stand it anymore, watching my beloved country being flushed down the toilet and not enough Americans seem to care to do anything about it.  Especially our elected officials who seem to march lock-step blindly on; seeing nothing wrong and hoping that time will heal all wounds.  But I am a “watchman” and I am called to keep the warning before the people as long as there are still people who care to be warned and heed those warnings.)

I’m tired.  I’m tired of all the meaningless rhetoric from politicians (especially Republicans—I expect it from the liberal, leftist Democrats), the liberal “yellow” journalism press and the heretical clergy.  The Republican establishment yammer on-and-on about how bad President Obama is and how scandalous he and his administration are; how corrupt; how inept; how this, how that, but then do absolutely, absolutely nothing to combat it or come against it.  Not even to have the courage to stand up against Obama and his ilk, but to actively participate and support his Marxist agenda.

Let’s review the Obama accomplishments so far.  God help us for what the next two years will bring.

The Economy.  If you think the economy is really good, then you have been brainwashed by the liberal media and Obama’s lying government.  With all the lies and deception that Obama, his staff and agencies have been caught with, do you really think the economy is as good as they are trying to make you believe?  I know, the stock market is rising to record highs; unemployment has supposedly sunk to 5.6 percent and so on.  But have you stopped to consider that the vast majority of jobs that have been “created” are either part-time or lower paying service sector jobs?  There are really very few high paying jobs in manufacturing, trades or the professional ranks.  Real household income is at the lowest it’s been in decades.  The workforce participation rate (62.8%) is the lowest since 1978 and has steadily dropped since the year 2000.  That means a lot of people have just given up on looking for meaningful work.

And unemployment?  Well, according to highly respected economist Walter “John” Williams of the popular ShadowStats web site, if you factor in all those who have given up looking and all those who want full time work but can only find part-time at McDonalds or Wal Mart, the “real” unemployment/under-employment rate jumped from around 12.5% before Obama took office to over 20% after he took office and has held steady at around 22-23% range for the past six years.  As far as Obama being the “savior” of the black community, unemployment among his “brethren” remains stubbornly double that of whites.  Among black teens, 16-19 years old, it has been near or above 30% and still is above 28%.

If the economy is doing so well then how is it that major retailers like Sears, Kmart, Macy’s, Radio Shack and many others are planning on closing thousands of stores (Radio Shack, 1,100 alone) and laying off tens of thousands of employees in 2015?  If the economy is so good, why are there still over 46 million Americans receiving food stamps?  About 20 million more than when Obama first took office.

To understand Obama’s view of what makes the economy work, one should listen to or read his speech at Osawatomie High School (Kansas) on December 6, 2011.  In his attempt to explain “trickle down” economics that is promoted by capitalists, he stated: “If only we cut more regulations and cut more taxes—especially for the wealthy—our economy will grow stronger. . . . if the winners do really well, jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everyone else.

“. . . Here’s the problem:” he asserted, “It doesn’t work.  It’s never worked.”  Obama’s way to economic prosperity for all is to tax more and regulate more.  Just during his first term, the Obama administration issued new regulations that will cost the American taxpayer $70 billion.  The number of regulations during Obama’s first term were almost triple those of his predecessor, President Bush, during his first term.  Just in his fourth year of office alone, federal regulators issued 2605 new rules.  In his first five years in office Obama has added 17,522 pages to the Code of Federal Regulations.  The CFR had 175,496 pages at the end of 2013.  In 2014, Obama added an estimated 75,000 pages of new regulations or an estimated $181 billion in new financial burdens upon Americans.

And there you have Obama’s simple Marxist view of America and capitalism.  “It doesn’t work.  It’s never worked.”  Despite 300-plus years of American ingenuity, industrialization and “trickle down” prosperity that (up until now) has built the greatest country and economy the world has ever known.  But, according the great “seer”, it just doesn’t work.

America’s Financial Condition.  When President Obama took office on January 20, 2009, America’s National debt was $10.626 trillion and the debt held by the public was $6.307 trillion.  America had endured 8 years of George Bush’s presidency in which he added $4.9 trillion to the National Debt.  Presidential candidate Obama called Bush’s penchant for such debt accumulation “unpatriotic”.  Now enter Obama’s world.  The National Debt after 6 years of Barack Obama now stands at $18.08 trillion and will likely exceed $20 trillion before Obama’s last year in office ends.  Public debt under Obama has risen to $12.995 trillion as of December 31, 2014 or over 100%.  That means that under Obama more public debt has been accumulated than under the administrations of all 43 presidents that preceded him, as will the National Debt before his second term is over.  What is even worse is that Congress appears to be unwilling or uninterested in stemming the tide of red ink and the weight of the economic burden it is placing upon the shoulders of every American, present and future.  It is unconscionable, but then, no one ever accused a politician of having a conscience.  Oh, and the interest on this debt?  Only a mere $522 billion per year and rising.  Gee, what could the American economy look like with an extra half trillion circulating each year?

To put this in a worldwide perspective, it is estimated that the global indebtedness of all nations at the end of 2014 was $60.906 trillion.  Of this debt, the people of the United States held 29.6% of it, but only represent 4.4% of the world population.  With the Obama administration’s bent on uncontrolled immigration, America’s financial condition will worsen as unskilled, uneducated, lower wage earners flood the country and governmental system, creating greater indebtedness for hardworking Americans while contributing little to the country’s tax base.  Hardworking U.S. citizens will see their tax burdens rise and real incomes continue to shrink.

Inflation.  The “official” government position is, and has been for some time, that inflation or the CPI (Consumer Price Index) is somewhere between 0 and 2% or lastly (November) at 1.3%.  Do you believe that?  If you do, you are not paying attention to what you are buying or have a short memory of the recent past.  When we departed the U.S. of A. in August of 2011, I remember that in the Midwest we could buy top sirloin steak for $3.98-4.98/lb.  Milk was about $3.50/gallon; eggs about $1.20/doz.; bread about $2; sliced roast beef was around $5.99/lb.; sliced Virginia ham about $4.99.  Upon our visit to the U.S. in June this past year we found that top sirloin had risen to $9.98; milk was about $5.00/gallon; eggs $2.50; bread $3.50-4.00; sliced roast beef and Virginia ham was $8.99 and $6.99 respectively.  This food inflation was far higher than the 0-2% the government data presents.

What has masked true inflation is the plummeting energy sector—no thanks to Obama.  Oil prices are declining due to world economies being in the tank and the surge of oil production on private U.S. land, something Obama has no control over but is trying to clamp down on through more and more environmental regulations.

Education & Knowledge.  Not long ago I watched a couple of informal history surveys on two different university campuses.  The two different interviewers asked simple, basic questions that any 5th grader should be able to answer.  Such questions as: “Who won the Civil War?”  “From whom did America win its independence?”  “Who is America’s Vice President?”  In each case, an overwhelming number of students did not have a clue as to the right answer.  This is just one indication of the radical left’s success in “dumbing down” of America’s youth.   Enter Common Core, another peg in the dumbing down strategy that even teachers across the country are rebelling against and some states are passing legislation to outlaw it.

Not content with trying to control the educational input of our children, the Obamas, via Michelle, decided they knew best what kids in school should eat.  As a result, thousands of uneaten lunches across America are thrown out each day by kids who refuse to eat the garbage called “food”.   Real history that teaches students true, politically incorrect history has been banned from schools at all levels, as has true science and math.

Teenagers cannot even make simple mathematical decisions without a calculator, cash register or computer.  I once asked a teenager at a convenience store for five singles in exchange for a five dollar bill.  She looked at me like I was speaking a foreign tongue.  I finally said, “May I have five one dollar bills, please?” In part, because of this dumbing down, that is why I decided to write two volumes of early American history and recently revised and expanded the second volume, We the People, Birth of a Nation which presents American history from the mouths of the Founders, complete with the full historical documents that they labored over.

Now, educational boards across the U.S. are condoning proselytizing on behalf of Islam using history texts written and edited by Muslims in order to portray Islam in a favorable light.  In many schools, children of unsuspecting parents are being groomed in the five pillars of Islam, must dress in Muslim attire so they can become more culturally sensitive and be forced to visit mosques, all in the name of cultural diversity.

Foreign Relations.  America’s image abroad is probably at the lowest level since the country’s founding.  Obama’s foreign policy is a disaster and his Secretaries of State (Clinton & Kerry) were and are inept and pathetic.  Obama’s apologetic and appeasement tours and position are an embarrassment and a kick in the face to the Founding Fathers and all those patriots who valiantly fought and died for the freedom, strength and leadership that America has provided to the world.  It’s no secret that Obama despises American “Exceptionalism” and has done everything within his power to diminish America’s once powerful image around the world.

At the same time Obama is destroying American exceptionalism he works hard at legitimizing the tyrants of Cuba, Iran and other tyrant-led countries.  While he is busy patronizing the tyrants of the world he has virtually ignored the relationships and alliances with countries in the Western hemisphere.

According to the 2015 Open Doors report on world terrorism, 2014 was the worst year for persecution of Christians.  However, the “leader of the free world”, Mr. Obama, has said virtually nothing and done virtually nothing to confront it or the Islamic terrorists that are behind the overwhelming majority of it.

High Level Corruption.  Just about every presidential administration has a scandal or two during their presidency, but usually such lapses in judgment do not affect American lives and freedom.  Enter, once again, President Obama.  Scandals and corruption associated with him and his Whitehouse team are non-ending and just about everyone of them have severely impacted the lives and freedoms of the majority of Americans.

  • Fast & Furious gun-running which put American lives at risk, especially along the Mexican border states by putting high-powered weapons into the hands of known drug lords and, at least in two known instances, resulted in the murder of U.S. border patrol agents.
  • The Benghazi assault on our unprotected outpost that allowed Ambassador Stevens and three others to be murdered because Obama & Hillary Clinton just did not see the need for adequate protection. Then when it is attacked and overwhelmed by obvious (to everyone else) Islamic jihadists, tried to blame the attack on an obscure internet video that practically no one ever saw or heard of; then lied repeatedly to Americans and the world about their despicable behavior and disregard for the safety of Americans serving abroad.   • The IRS targeting scandal where Obama and his hirelings authorized the use of the IRS to target conservative groups and prevent them from raising monies for the 2012 presidential campaign. Shameful; despicable; scandalous; criminal. But no one’s in jail. Not even one indictment.
  • The NSA spying outrage where millions of private conversations and data bases were violated for nefarious purposes, all in the name of “national security” but really to keep tabs on Obama’s opponents.
  • The Veteran’s Administration debacle of disgusting and inhuman treatment of thousands of U.S. veterans. Admittedly, not all on Obama’s watch, but seemed to intensify under his administration.
  • Voter Fraud. How else would you explain 110% of voters in some precincts voting for Obama or 100% of all precincts in Philadelphia voting for Obama, or electronic voting machines around the country “mysteriously” switching Republican votes to Democratic ones?

Well, you get the picture.  There are more Obama scandals then I care to take time to write about—particularly those that involve violations of the U.S. Constitution.  That alone would take a book of several hundred pages.  The list of Obama’s abuses of his office and public trust seems to be just about endless.  The sad thing is that most Americans are clueless and they will not understand the impact of this president on American freedoms, prosperity and national security until many years later.

National Security.  Under Obama’s “leadership” America’s military has become smaller than before World War II and considerably weaker.  According to U.S. Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Ray Odierno, the U.S. Army only has two brigades (6,000-10,000 troops) that are combat ready.  Under Obama as Commander-in-Chief, military morale has plummeted, while military deaths due to suicide has steadily increased since he took office to the point where, starting in 2012, military deaths from suicide exceeded those from combat.  In 2012 alone 524 U.S. servicemen and women committed suicide, and at a rate far more than those among the much larger civilian population.  In addition, Obama has purged the military of over 200 top leaders and given “pink slips” to over 500 career military leaders.  Of the $1 trillion in sequester cuts at the end of 2013 by Obama and Congress, over half was absorbed by the military at a time when America needs military strength at its peak.  Medal of Honor decorated, Maj. Gen. Patrick Brady, stated, “There is no doubt he [Obama] is intent on emasculating the military and will fire anyone who disagrees with him” (see Revelation 18 and the fate of America, page 288).

Although Obama trumpets that America has never been safer, the truth is, America has never been more vulnerable.  His catastrophic decision to prematurely pull out of Iraq against all military advice has created the meteoric rise of the Islamic terrorist group, ISIS—a group that Obama cannot seem to bring himself to effectively encounter and annihilate despite their horrific acts of butchery in the name of their god.

On January 22, 2009, two days after being sworn in to “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”, President Obama issued an executive order to close the Gitmo terrorist detention camp in Cuba within a year.  Although he did not succeed, he has released almost 100 Islamic terrorists so they can pursue their terrorist efforts against the United States. Many of those released are now leading or fighting with terrorist groups in the Middle East and elsewhere.  In 2014 alone, Obama released 28 suspected Islamic terrorists.  Follow-up on GITMO detainees released shows that at least 30% re-enter the battlefield to carry out more terror attacks.

President Barack Obama having not succeeded in keeping his promise to close Gitmo within a year of becoming president is now resorting to a different tactic. He is releasing Gitmo inmates, and not just any Gitmo terrorist, but top Taliban intelligence official who kept Stinger missiles and uranium at his farm. But it even gets worse than this. The Afghans gave “security guarantees” that there is no requirement this uranium terrorist and 3 others to be held in prison and they are said to be likely sent home to their families.

The uranium terrorist is Mohammed Zahir, who was also to top it all off, a leading Taliban weapons supplier, according to his official Guantanamo file, leaked three years ago to The Telegraph by the Wikileaks hacker group (Source: Shoebat Foundation, December 20, 2014).

On September 23, 2014, speaking before the United Nations, President Obama (with a straight face) announced that the world was a lot safer now since he took office.  “As a result of this [international security] work and cooperation with allies and partners, the world is more stable than it was five years ago.”  Really?  Does this man live on this planet?  Threats from terrorists—principally Islamic terrorists—has NEVER been greater.  Just ask any one of the hundreds of millions of Jews and Christians around the world who are in daily fear of persecution, torture and murder.  Just ask the thousands of U.S. military parents, spouses and relatives of the thousands of men and women who have died under the Obama administration trying to fight a restricted and unwinnable (because Obama doesn’t want to win the) war against Muslim terrorists or the survivors of those thousands of brave military personnel who could not take it any longer under this “Commander-in-Chief” and committed suicide from Post Traumatic Stress or lack of committed leadership to a winning strategy.

Since September 11, 2001, Muslim terrorists have committed 24,826 non-military deadly attacks around the world (Source: http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/thelist.htm).  In 2011 alone, Muslim terrorists killed an estimated 12,533 people (Source: National Counterterrorism Center).  Since Obama took office in 2009 there have been at least 20 deadly Muslim terrorist attacks in America.  However, President Obama insists that such daily terror is just the “senseless violence of a few.”  Just in the last three months of 2014, Islamic terrorists carried out almost 900 attacks, killing almost 8,000 people and wounding thousands more.  But the world is safer now that Obama is at the helm.

On January 12, 2015, the U.S. military’s Central Command Twitter account was hacked by either ISIS members or sympathizers who sent terror messages to the U.S. military.  But we’re secure.  No threat here.

President Obama and members of his administration have repeatedly disclosed national secrets of the U.S. and its allies.   Perhaps the most infamous was the disclosure of members of Seal Team 6 who were responsible for annihilating Osama Bin Laden on May 1, 2011.  The very next day, Vice President Joe Biden, in an act of treason, “outed” the Team to the world.  Three months late, on August 6, 30 members of Seal Team 6, on another mission in Afghanistan, had their helicopter shot down.  All were killed, as were eight Afghanis on board.

The Obama administration seems to spend more time and effort placating and empowering the tyrannical terrorists of the world like Iran, Russia, China, Cuba and Islamic terrorists worldwide than they do confronting them and minimizing their threat to America and the world.

While Obama touts his delusional safe world he decimates America’s borders and our border patrol, making them ineffective.  Not long ago an American trucker driving a truck across the border from Mexico to America videoed his border crossing experience.  As he pulled up to the American border guard, the guard asked the driver if he was the only one on board.  The trucker said, “Why, does it matter?”  The border guard said, “Not anymore” and waved the driver through without any further questions and no inspection.  In many places along the southern U.S. border, border agents have been disarmed or made to pull back to 70 miles from the border.  When they were able to provide some semblance of border security, for the first time (in 2014) they apprehended more non-Mexicans than Mexicans.  And, it has been well documented by border agents and county sheriffs along the border that Muslims are crossing the border without much impediment.

Update, January 24, 2015.  As Obama “fiddles” the Mideast burns.  Today, Libya is in turmoil; Egypt still unstable; Yemen has fallen into chaos; Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon are being overtaken by Al Qaeda & ISIS; Iran has been emboldened in its nuclear program; America’s support of Israel has been weakened while Hamas has been strengthened by Obama and America’s ally, the King of Saudi Arabia has died leaving an uncertain future in U.S.-Saudi relations.  Under Obama the Middle East has declined into chaos and Islamic terrorism.  But, the deceiver-in chief of America says the world has never been safer, so it must be true.

The Enemy Within.  As if this brazen weakening of American security were not enough, Obama has stacked his administration with known members of the radical Muslim Brotherhood, including serving in the Department of Homeland Security. In the past year it has been widely reported (by responsible media) that there are simulated cell phone “towers” popping up all over America.  These cell phone data interceptors are collecting the cell phone calls and data of millions of Americans.  Who is doing it?  The FBI, CIA, Pentagon?  No, none of the reasonably suspected culprits.  It’s the Obama “Justice” Department.  Why?  Supposedly to catch that one in a billion call by a terrorist using certain catch words or phrases.  In the meantime the collective freedom of speech of millions of law-abiding U.S. citizens is being severely compromised. Under Obama the Feds have become the enemy of the people.

Race Relations.  President Obama said race relations since he took office in 2009 have gotten better.  In a Fox News poll of December 7-9, 62% said it has gotten worse under Obama, only 19% said it has become better.  Obama’s alliances and support of black agitators like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson heighten the black-white divide.  The man in the Whitehouse has clearly shown his prejudicial side, as has his Justice Department cohort, Eric Holder.  While they both are ready to jump into a suspected white-on-black assault, they are no-shows on any one of the thousands of documented black-on-white assaults and murders, particularly committed by black thugs “playing” the “knock-out” game of punching out the lights of unsuspecting men, women, the disabled and elderly.  The Obama DOJ believes and practices selective prosecution. When members of the Black Panthers intimated white voters in Philadelphia during the 2008 election, Holder refused to investigate or bring charges.  When thousands of blacks rioted and torched Ferguson, Missouri after a grand jury decided that Michael Brown was killed in self-defense by a white police officer, rather than support that decision, Holder implied that justice was denied and is now threatening a Civil Rights suit against the officer and gave credence and justification for the rioting.  When the New Black Panthers recently threatened to target police officers for assassination, not a peep was heard from Holder or Obama.

Poverty.  The poverty rate in the U.S. is 15.7%, two percentage points higher than when Obama took office.  Some parts of the country, like Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee have once thriving cities with poverty rates between 27-35%.  This is certainly not the sign of a full economic recovery that Obama boasts about.  The truth is that 45 million Americans still live in poverty and the percentage of Americans in that situation is three percentage points higher than before Obama took office.

Health Care.  If you do not know by now that the (Un)Affordable Care Act or Obamacare is a disaster and will destroy American health care, then, once again, you have not been paying attention.  The law that Nancy Pelosi said they just had to pass to find out what was in it, is neither affordable (except for the poor) nor very caring.  People are losing their doctors, their health care providers, their affordable premiums (as AFC premiums skyrocket), and one poll disclosed that 70% of doctors plan to leave their profession in the next few years.  Add to this mess the millions of illegal immigrants that will be added to the health care system who will get free health care, thanks to the U.S. taxpayer, and you can imagine what health care in the U.S. will be like in a short couple of years.

Religious Freedom.  Although Obama and team sees no need to temper the hateful rhetoric coming out of America’s mosques, they seem to seize every opportunity or support local and regional court assaults on the freedoms of Christians and Jews to freely practice their religions or operate godly businesses.  You can read more about this assault on Christianity in Revelation 18 and the fate of America.

Adherence to the Law.  Obama and his team have violated the U.S. Constitution so frequently that it is like we do not have a constitution anymore.  There is no longer the separation of powers so wisely established by the Founding Fathers.  Obama is Tyrant and King:  he makes the laws; decides which laws should be enforced and which he can ignore; he can wave his magic pen and decree whatever he wants to be so, no matter how many lawmakers or members of the public object.  Of course, he is not entirely to blame.  Members of Congress have sat on the collective bums through it all, saying and doing nothing for fear that they might face some kind of recrimination for coming against or even impeaching the “first” pseudo-black president.

Final Word (Sort of).  Now, after all that has been said you might think I am prejudice or anti-somebody, but I’m not.  I just believe in calling a spade a spade (no pun or racial slur intended).  Even Jesus called out the Pharisees when he saw how they treated the people and misled them.  I said in 2008 that America would regret the day that they elected Barack Hussein Obama.  Unfortunately, to date, I do not think I have been proven wrong.

Wake Me When It’s Over.  So, where is the public and Congressional outrage?  Where are the religious leaders falling to their knees and begging God for mercy and leading their congregations in repentance and turning to God in true worship and righteousness?  If we think some courageous person or persons are going to step forward with a magic solution that will rectify this mess, we are deceiving ourselves.  America is far beyond effective human intervention.  Only God Almighty is up to the job, but He will not intervene unless His people repent and fully return to Him; turn from their wicked ways and stand upon His righteousness.  So, wake me when the church decides it has had enough and is willing to take a stand and stops laying down to be trampled upon by anyone who chooses to do so.

The Prophetic Wisdom & Warnings of George Washington

George Washington, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army—the forerunner of the U.S. military—and the first President of the United States of America, was a humble man of prayer and devout patriot. He was also a man of exceptional wisdom, discernment and vision.   Toward the end of his second term, Washington had Hamilton review the Madison draft of his farewell speech that he had intended to use at the end of his first term and make revisions. While Madison and Hamilton constructed the draft, it was Washington who carefully considered every word, every addition and deletion, before giving his approval.

Interestingly, it was never given orally by Washington but on September 19, 1796, it was published in the American Daily Advertizer in Philadelphia. Shortly thereafter The Independent Chronicle, the published voice of the New England Republicans, printed the address.

With much reluctance, Washington turned down the offer for a third term. Washington had longed for the privacy of his beloved Mount Vernon since the end of the war. Two weeks before he took the oath of office on April 30, 1789, he told his fellow citizens of Alexandria, Virginia, that “my love of retirement is so great, that no earthly consideration, short of conviction of duty, could have prevailed upon me to depart from my resolution ‘never more to take any share in transactions of a public nature.’” Even when his second presidential term ended in March, 1797, his retirement and return to Mount Vernon would be brief. In 1798, as war with France seemed to be on the near horizon, Washington accepted President John Adams’ urging to lead the American military once again. His call was short-lived as tensions eased and he was able to return to his Virginia estate.

Although, unlike many of his compatriot leaders, Washington lacked a formal and collegiate education, it did not hamper his keen insight and wisdom that shone forth in his voluminous correspondence. Notwithstanding Madison’s and Hamilton’s contributions, the address is clearly Washington in style and content. In the lengthy salute to America, he presents several personal convictions and concerns for the future of his beloved country.

Importance of unity and the dangers of factions and divisions. He was greatly concerned about the growing trend of individual wants at the expense of national unity. Personal freedom, Washington believed, could only continue to exist and prosper with the desire of all Americans to be united in the ongoing, uniquely American brand of freedom, for the benefit of the whole nation. Strong, misguided, individualism or regionalism—that erupted into the Civil War—could destroy the young nation.

Washington firmly believed that for the Union of states to survive, unity, not only among the nation’s leaders, but its people as well would be essential. . . . as a strong incitement to unceasing vows that heaven may continue to you the choicest tokens of its beneficence; he wrote, that your union and brotherly affection may be perpetual; that the free Constitution, which is the work of your hands, may be sacredly maintained; that its administration in every department may be stamped with wisdom and virtue; [and] that the happiness of the people of these States, under the auspices of liberty, may be made complete by so careful a preservation and so prudent a use of this blessing as will acquire to them the glory of recommending it . . . and adoption of every nation which is yet a stranger to it.

A man seasoned by a long military career and an extreme love of his country, Washington cherished the hard-won freedom and independence that was to be handed down to generations of Americans to come after him. But he was concerned about the real threat of factions and divisions in both politics and the people.

The unity of government which constitutes you one people is also now dear to you. It is justly so, for it is a main pillar in the edifice of your real independence, the support of your tranquility at home, your peace abroad; of your safety; of your prosperity; of that very liberty which you so highly prize. But as it is easy to foresee that, from different causes and from different quarters, much pains will be taken, many artifices employed to weaken in your minds the conviction of  this truth; as  this  is  the  point  in your political fortress against which the batteries of internal and external enemies will be most constantly and actively (though often covertly and insidiously) directed, it is of infinite moment that you should properly estimate the immense value of your national union to your collective and individual happiness; that you should cherish a cordial, habitual, and immovable attachment to it; accustoming yourselves to think and speak of it as of the palladium [rarity] of your political safety and prosperity; watching for its preservation with jealous anxiety; discountenancing whatever may suggest even a suspicion that it can in any event be abandoned; and indignantly frowning upon the first dawning of every attempt to alienate any portion of our country from the rest, or to enfeeble the sacred ties which now link together the various parts.

Washington foresaw, that while the newly conceived U.S. Constitution had sufficient safeguards, that there would arise in the future those from both within the country and from outside the country that would seek to weaken the nation by a “divide and conquer” strategy if the populace was not watchful and committed to liberty, justice and prosperity for all, divesting themselves of self-interests. Whether Citizens, by birth or choice, of a common country, that country has a right to concentrate your affections, he advocated. The name of American, which belongs to you in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion, manners, habits, and political principles.

Perhaps Washington did not foresee the degree of “multi-culturalism” America would embrace 200 years later, but he did fully understand that unless all residents of the nation, whether native-born or foreign-born, fully accepted the “land of the free” as their cherished home—culture, language, laws and morality—the nation would soon be torn asunder. This unity among people of different backgrounds and beliefs was essential, not only to the country’s safety and prosperity, but to its strength and protection against all enemies foreign and domestic. . . . While, then, every part of our country thus feels an immediate and particular interest in union, all the parts combined cannot fail to find in the united mass of means and efforts greater strength, greater resource, proportionably greater security from external danger, a less frequent interruption of their peace by foreign nations; and, what is of inestimable value, they must derive from union an exemption from those broils and wars between themselves . . . . they will avoid the necessity of those overgrown military establishments which, under any form of government, are inauspicious to liberty, and which are to be regarded as particularly hostile to republican liberty. In this sense it is that your union ought to be considered as a main prop of your liberty, and that the love of the one ought to endear to you the preservation of the other.

Washington believed that Union should be the primary object of patriotic desire. Sadly, America today has never been so fractious and divided since the Civil war.  America has degenerated from a society of committed and unified freedom fighters and lovers to a “what’s in for me” society that appears willing to sacrifice true freedom at all costs as long as they can get something out of it.  As the venerable Benjamin Franklin once stated, He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security.

. . . there will always be reason, Washington wrote, to distrust the patriotism of those who in any quarter may endeavor to weaken its bands.

Dangers of the party system. Washington detested the fractious and partisan two party political system that he saw developing under his administration. He saw it as destructive and unhealthy for the country. The party system of government, he foresaw, had the potential to go beyond the normal political checks and balances and rip the power of self-government out of the hands of the citizens.

To the efficacy and permanency of your Union, he penned, a government for the whole is indispensable. No alliance, however strict, between the parts can be an adequate substitute; they must inevitably experience the infractions and interruptions which all alliances in all times have experienced. . . . This government, the offspring of our own choice, uninfluenced and unawed, adopted upon full investigation and mature deliberation, completely free in its principles, in the distribution of its powers, uniting security with energy, and containing within itself a provision for its own amendment, has a just claim to your confidence and your support. . . . The basis of our political systems is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government. But the Constitution . . . till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole people, is sacredly obligatory upon all.

Washington undoubtedly would be horrified how the Constitution has been ripped apart by special interest groups and self-serving politicians over the years since his demise. It is no longer a Constitution of just laws for all, but only for those who no longer have the power and will to confront injustice and the powerful.  The two-party system he believed had the potential to tear the country apart.

All obstructions to the execution of the laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels and modified by mutual interests.

“Money talks” as they say and Washington understood that the propensity of human nature to lobby and seek favor with politicians had the destructive potential to subvert the Constitution and destroy the liberty and union he and so many other patriots fought and died for. Today, the majority of Congress no longer truly represents the will or desires of the people, but only of those who can grease the palms of special interests or finance re-election campaigns.  It seems that the typical politician is not in office to stand up for and serve the people, but is there to secure the permanency of his or her future. Party factions, Washington wrote, in the course of time and things, . . . become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

One method of assault on the Constitution he believed would be alterations which will impair the energy of the system, and thus to undermine what cannot be directly overthrown. It seems that with each succeeding generation of leaders in high places each one flirts with stretching the efficacy of the Constitution.  The current administration in the Whitehouse is no exception and, perhaps, has clearly and willfully violated the Constitution with every available opportunity.  With each constitutional violation, the nation and its people lose another chick of freedom and independence, and like the proverbial frog in a kettle of gradually heated water, does not perceive the danger until it is too late.

This [divisive party] spirit, Washington continued in his warning speech, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. . . . it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, Washington continued, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, . . . has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty. Has America not arrived at this point today?  According to Washington, it is up to the people—a wise and educated people—to rise up and discourage and restrain such abuse of servanthood.

[The party system] serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the government and serve to keep alive the spirit of liberty, Washington noted. This within certain limits is probably true; and in governments of a monarchical cast, patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.

Almost since the signing of the U.S. Constitution into law, partisan politics soon developed, starting with the Federalists and anti-Federalists. As the Democratic and Republican parties developed, sides became more permanently drawn and partisan politics has apparently reached its zenith with the current Congress and presidential administration, as over 380 bills passed by the House languish on the desk of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who refuses to introduce them before the Senate for debate.  Washington’s foresight, unfortunately, has come to full fruition.

Protecting the sanctity of the Constitution. To Washington and those who labored over the Constitution and to the majority of those in Congress, the Constitution represented the bedrock upon which all current and future law and liberty would depend. It was divinely inspired with God-given individual rights. It was not something to be whimsically changed by partisan politics or by legislative or judicial fiat. To do so would destroy its sanctity and strength. It was a document that was thoughtfully and prayerfully conceived that did and would forever provide the stable foundation upon which all American generations could stand with confidence and security.

Towards the preservation of your government, and the permanency of your present happy state, it is requisite, not only that you steadily discountenance irregular oppositions to its acknowledged authority, but also that you resist with care the spirit of innovation upon its principles, however specious the pretexts. One method of assault may be to effect, in the forms of the Constitution, alterations which will impair the energy of the system, and thus to undermine what cannot be directly overthrown.

. . . a government of as much vigor as is consistent with the perfect security of liberty is indispensable. Liberty itself will find in such a government, with powers properly distributed and adjusted, its surest guardian.

. . . It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of the powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism. A just estimate of that love of power, and proneness to abuse it, which predominates in the human heart, is sufficient to satisfy us of the truth of this position. The necessity of reciprocal checks in the exercise of political power, by dividing and distributing it into different depositaries, and constituting each the guardian of the public weal against invasions by the others, has been evinced by experiments ancient and modern; some of them in our country and under our own eyes. To preserve them must be as necessary as to institute them. If, in the opinion of the people, the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit, which the use can at any time yield (my emphasis).

Washington keenly realized that if the three branches of government—Executive, Legislative & Judicial—that the Founders so wisely set forth in the Constitution as distinct entities, with specific purposes and as a check and balance against each other, ever became co-mingled, with one usurping the role and responsibility of the other, it would result in real despotism. Have we not arrived at such a destiny as the Executive ignores the Legislative and makes, institutes and ignores whatever laws it desires?  And, as the Judicial selects what laws it chooses to enforce and modifies or changes those laws it does not like.  Truly, tyranny has arrived in the United States just as Washington feared and predicted.

Public and national debt. Washington was not opposed to indebtedness, but recommended that it should be used sparingly and only in times of national emergency. Whatever national debt that might be incurred “we ourselves ought to bear” it, Washington recommended, rather than pass it on to succeeding generations. When times of peace and prosperity returned, then that was the time to pay off the debt and not pile on more debt, thus increasing the burden for the next generation.

As a very important source of strength and security, cherish public credit. One method of preserving it is to use it as sparingly as possible, avoiding occasions of expense by cultivating peace, but remembering also that timely disbursements to prepare for    danger    frequently   prevent   much    greater disbursements to repel it, avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt, not only by shunning occasions of expense, but by vigorous exertion in time of peace to discharge the debts which unavoidable wars may have occasioned, not ungenerously throwing upon posterity the burden which we ourselves ought to bear.

Unfortunately, America’s national debt situation is out of control and impossible to pay off as politician after politician votes to “kick the can” of debt control down the road year after year. The National Debt will exceed $18 trillion by year-end with “unfunded” liabilities at a staggering $124 trillion.  Yet, congressional and administration spending continues out-of-control with more and more spending bills being whisked through Congress or put into action by Executive Orders.  We continue to send billions abroad, even to our enemies, as jobs and American lifestyles plummet into the basement.  Washington, who received his education in the field of hard knocks, knew what he was talking about.  Too bad no one after him followed his advice.

Foreign relations and national defense. One of the greatest threats to the American style of life and freedom would be the outside adverse influence of non-Americans and foreign governments. Under his scrutiny, these influences would become the destructive “foes of republican government”, Washington believed. Permanent alliances with foreign powers, in Washington’s view, were inadvisable and potentially injurious to American sovereignty and freedom.  Although he was not an isolationist—he saw the need for world trade cooperation—he believed that long-term alliances would be detrimental and not in the enduring best interest of the country.  Foreign entanglements and the large military build-up that might result would be “particularly hostile to republican liberty,” he surmised. For Washington and his fellow patriots who had risked all for the sake of true freedom, they realized that God had blessed them with the formation of the most unique and workable form of government for a free and fully represented people that the world had ever known. To Washington and his like-minded patriots, it was worth protecting at all costs.

Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence . . . the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government.

. . . The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations,  to   have   with   them as little political connection as possible.

. . . It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world . . . .

. . . Taking care always to keep ourselves by suitable establishments on a respectable defensive posture, we may safely trust to temporary alliances for extraordinary emergencies.

Harmony, liberal intercourse with all nations, are recommended by policy, humanity, and interest. But even our commercial policy should hold an equal and impartial hand; neither seeking nor granting exclusive favors or preferences . . . .

. . . Hence, likewise, they will avoid the necessity of those overgrown military establishments which, under any form of government, are inauspicious to liberty, and which are to be regarded as particularly hostile to republican liberty.

When it came to foreign trade, Washington abhorred the idea that one nation would be treated any different than another. To create a “favored nation” status would only cultivate “a variety of evils” for America. As Washington continued his warnings in his farewell speech, he offered this prophetic advice:

. . . a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification. It leads also to concessions to the favorite nation of privileges denied to others which is apt doubly to injure the nation making the concessions; by unnecessarily parting with what ought to have been retained, and by exciting jealousy, ill-will, and a disposition to retaliate, in the parties from whom equal privileges are withheld. And it gives to ambitious, corrupted, or deluded citizens (who devote themselves to the favorite nation), facility to betray or sacrifice the interests of their own country, without odium, sometimes even with popularity; gilding, with the appearances of a virtuous sense of obligation, a commendable deference for public opinion, or a laudable zeal for public good, the base or foolish compliances of ambition, corruption, or infatuation.

As avenues to foreign influence in innumerable ways, such attachments are particularly alarming to the truly enlightened and independent patriot. How many opportunities do they afford to tamper with domestic factions, to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion, to influence or awe the public councils? Such an attachment of a small or weak towards a great and powerful nation dooms the former to be the satellite of the latter.

Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence . . . a free people ought to be constantly awake . . . that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government. . . . Excessive partiality for one foreign nation and excessive dislike of another cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests (my emphasis).

One of the biggest mistakes America and its politicians has ever made was granting China “favored nation” status under President Bill Clinton. It was virtually a one-sided deal that highly favored China and immediately resulted in a flow of American jobs, technology and manufacturing to China, allowing China to become the world’s strongest economy at the expense of the American worker and American family.  At the same time the American consumer fell in love with “cheap” goods flooding the U.S. market, oblivious to the realization that one day it would cost them their jobs, wages and standard of living.  A nation that cannot produce for itself and exports the production of goods and services abroad is destined for an inferior and declining economy.

The necessity of religion and morality in the citizens and the government. For historians and others who have concluded that Washington was not a man of God, their conclusions would seem to be fallacious and misguided. Washington considered religion and morality two of the “great pillars of human happiness.” Indeed, religion and morality were “indispensable supports” for political prosperity. In fact, in his view, any person that would seek to undermine these pillars could not be considered to be a patriot. If one subverted the religious foundation of the country, “Where,” asked Washington, “is the security for property, for reputation, for life . . .?” As for individual or national morality, he believed it could not be maintained in the absence of religious education and acted upon principles of faith. It was and would always be that religion and morality would be the foundation of a good and just government.

Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert  the oaths which are   the   instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

It is substantially true that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government.

. . . Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be, that good policy does not equally enjoin it? It will be worthy of a free, enlightened, and at no distant period, a great nation, to give to mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by an exalted justice and benevolence.

It would be no great surprise to Washington if he were able to observe the state of affairs in America today. After all, he warned, without a foundation of biblical morality and virtue it would be impossible to have an effective and just government and society.  Without the strong and clear foundation of religion—and he meant Christianity—America would soon collapse into an immoral society lead by despotic leaders.

America, you have arrived. You were properly and prophetically warned by our nation’s finest leader.

America’s Disaster Called Obama

Now Obamanites will be horrified and outraged at the above title and my sympathies and condolences go out to you for your unmitigated blindness and desire to continue to live in your own la-la land of unreality and political correctness.  Those who voted for Obama the first time might be excused for their ignorance and passion to see the first person of color or “black” man elected to the highest office in the country, but to vote for him a second time after his first four years was an unmitigated disaster is inexcusable.

It is a shame that America’s first “experiment” with electing a “minority” has proven time and again to be seriously detrimental to the survival of the U.S.—NOT because Obama is of the minority class, but because he is just horrific as a qualified leader.  While some think Mr. Obama is inept as a leader, he is, in reality, quite adept at accomplishing his catastrophic agenda and that of the Democratic Party.

Everywhere a discerning person looks—and I mean discerning and not a blind, dyed in the wool follower—everything that has Obama’s mark on it has been destructive to America’s and American’s well-being.  I know most of the talking heads on television and the columns and editorials in newspapers and online that tries to pass and impress as honest journalism still oozes with Obama superlatives and “successes”.  And, NO, I am not a Fox News junky, although they seem to be one of the few left that believes the American people are owed the truth no matter how painful it might be.  [By-the-way, for you Fox News haters, Fox pulverizes every other news network in every time slot by more than 4 to 1 in viewership.] Unlike most, I spend hours researching original sources from all over the world, not just the evening news or conservative sources.

It is hard to know where to start with reviewing Obama’s record.  From my view (as an American historian) there has never been a more corrupt, deceitful and shameless administration in America’s Whitehouse than the current one.  A president and an administration that so blatantly abuses and overrides the United States of America’s Constitution and breaks the law of the land at the highest levels.  While Obama proclaims to the public that it is the Republicans that are preventing him from getting anything through Congress, the truth is that he not only refuses to work with the opposite party, but that there are so many scandals, abuses of power and perjuries before investigative committees, that Congress has no time to contract the people’s business.

Right from the start, President Obama and his Democratic cohorts, such as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, with straight faces, lied to the American people about the disastrous health care program that would destroy America’s top flight health care system and turn it into a third world program.  Today, even as I write, it has been announced that another 13 states (CT, DE, MD, MA, MN, MS, NY, RI, NV, NM, VA, VT & WA) and the District of Columbia will be terminating several hundred thousand health policies by month end because they cannot meet the ridiculous requirements of Obamacare.  Obama himself has violated his own health care law over 30 times since its passage, changing, delaying the law or exempting favored groups or political supporters.  It is a reckless and impeachable violation of the law.

As a minority president that many had hoped would heal any remaining racial divides in the country, instead of healing he has been the most racist president in our history, using the power of his office and his justice department to bring about increased tensions and silent permission for uncontrolled racial violence against non-blacks.  Obama readily interjects himself into any perceived injustice against blacks but turns a deaf ear and blind eye against black violence against other blacks or non-blacks.

When he was running for his first term of office on the national scene Obama boldly proclaimed that his administration would be the most “transparent” in the country’s history.  Instead it has become the most closed, secretive, deceptive and deliberately obfuscating administration in the history of the country.  It is so bad that people are beginning to realize—not only in the U.S. but around the world—that there is nothing that Obama or his administration says that can be trusted or relied on as the truth.  ALL of Obama’s decisions and calculations are measured in political gain and his vision of “transforming” America, not in what is best for Americans.

By now, even among his ardent supporters, it should be crystal clear that Obama has no interest in doing what is best for America or in truly protecting Americans at home or abroad.  I know that is a harsh assessment, but the evidence is overwhelming.  How else can a rational person explain his ignoring and even abetting a wide open border on the southern line with Mexico at a time when illegals, criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, Islamic terrorists and diseases are flooding across the border and he does nothing—NOTHING!!!!  He sees no need to provide our embassies with adequate protection in hostile environments, and in the case of the terrorist attack on a deliberately unprotected Benghazi, has the audacity to lie to the American people repeatedly about the cause of the attack.

Since he was elected to office, Obama has shown a clear and strong propensity and aversion to confronting or doing battle with America’s enemies.  He is more interested in aiding and abetting the enemy than conquering them.  How else does one explain his obsession with closing the Guantanamo Bay (GITMO) prison camp for Islamic terrorists, letting most of them go free, including the ISIS (Iraq, Syria Islamic State) leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the author of thousands of Islamic atrocities in the Middle East and other places known and unknown.

How else does one explain why Obama was so eager to release five notorious Islamic terrorists from GITMO in exchange for a known U.S. military deserter in Afghanistan and yet refuses to lift his adept hand and call the president of Mexico and demand the release of an American Marine hero who has been illegally held in a Mexican prison since April.

How else can you explain his willingness to vacate Iraq against ALL advice from his military leaders, thus exposing Iraq and remaining American civilians and military to the onslaught of ISIS and other Islamic terrorists?  It is now been revealed by his own military advisors that Obama was told about the growing threat of ISIS over two years ago and that he needed to take action, but he refused.  Now that ISIS has taken control of eastern Syria and northern Iraq and has grown from a rag-tag group of several hundred to well over 30,000, now Obama orders a few pin-pricks in the way of a few meaningless air strikes each day as ISIS continues its unimpeded march toward Bahgdad.  As far as I am concerned the responsibility for the ISIS atrocities and every beheading needs to be laid at the feet of Obama.

In his newly released memoir, Worthy Fights, former Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta wrote: “But the President’s team at the White House pushed back [against military advice], and the differences occasionally became heated. . . .  and those on our side viewed the White House as so eager to rid itself of Iraq that it was willing to withdraw rather than lock in arrangements that would preserve our influence and interests.”

It has become increasingly clear to most observers that Obama is much more interested in the perks of his office than its responsibilities.  He would much rather be taking multi-million dollar vacations at taxpayers’ expense, golfing, shooting hoops in the “hood”or off  self-aggrandizing campaigning across the country touting his fictitious  political accomplishments.  How else can you explain his totally insensitive and callous handling of the news of an American being beheaded by ISIS?  He apparently was reluctantly dragged off the golf course to make a few second statement and then hurriedly returned to his real passion and focus of the day, his golf game.

I wrote in a blog the week before the 2012 presidential election, that if Obama was re-elected, Islamic terrorism would skyrocket.  Sadly, that has become true, because Obama has no interest in stopping it and seems to even sympathize with it and its perpetrators.

Toward the beginning of this blog I said it is hard to know where to begin with Obama’s disastrous exploits, but it is equally difficult to know where to end.  There have been a multitude of books written on this very subject from an equal multitude of vantage points.

There is, of course, his destruction of the U.S. military to the point that it is no longer combat ready according to military leaders.  There is his firing of over 200 military leaders and giving “pink slips” to over 500 more because he does not like them.  Then there is the economy which he says has never been better.  But the latest statistics (despite the government’s fabricated jobs report and unemployment knock down, is that 24% of those in their prime working years of 25-54 are not working.  The “labor participation” rate continues its metric slide from 66% when Obama took office to 62.7% last month, the lowest rate in 36 years.  In a recent October poll, 43% of Americans think the economy is getting worse and only 24% say they are better off since Obama took office.  Of course, the burdensome National Debt that keeps skyrocketing will have a yet to be measured negative impact of the nation’s economy.  When Barack Hussein Obama took office in early 2009, the National Debt was about $10.7 trillion.  As I write, the debt is nearing $18 trillion and will likely exceed that level by year-end.  Before Obama leaves office, he and his Democratic supporters will have increased the National Debt more than all his presidential predecessors combined back to 1940.  Now, granted, the Debt is not all his fault but that of many previous Congresses that put in place major spending bills with little or no financial resources to back them.  But Obama has willfully accelerated the wanton spending that is so typical of careless politicians.

But let us not ignore Obama’s attack on religious freedom and the foundational biblical moral code for families and human life in general.  Obama’s unwavering support of gay rights, abortion rights and all other types of perverse “rights” that undermine the very moral fabric of America is well documented.  His support of moral Christian values (he does still profess to be a Christian) and the American family is suspect, if not non-existent.

Now, there are those who say that it is not Christian or biblical to criticize the nation’s top leader.  But that is not true or biblically supported.  The Old Testament is full of God’s prophets and watchmen who were called of God to point out false leaders or those who were leading Israel astray or down an evil path.  Not all of the world’s leaders, including America’s, are ordained by God.  Some are clearly evil and that God allows because that is what the people want.  Israel clamored for a king, so God gave them a succession of kings, the vast majority of whom were evil tyrants and not interested in following God.

In the New Testament, even Jesus called out the evil political and religious leaders of his day.  He minced no words but spoke to the heart of the matter and the evil perpetrators.

For those of you who are still ensnared by Obamamania, my sincere condolences.  I pray you wake up from your malaise and ignorance of the facts before it is too late.

October 11.  It is now being reported that the U.S., Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia are in a secret deal to not aid the Kurds in the Kurdish city of Kobani that is under siege from ISIS and about to fall.  Read more here.  If this is true, Obama needs to be immediately brought up on charges of treason for aiding and abetting America’s enemies.

America’s King

(Author’s note: It has been some time since I posted a blog on this site.  Partly due to travelling and spending the best part of a year writing my 18th book, Revelation 18 and the fate of America;  but also because I am keenly aware that there are a host of bloggers and journalists that are more “plugged in” to the daily happenings in the United States and around the world.  Nevertheless, I do, from time to time like to express what is on my mind and how I see things before or as they develop.  So, I blog on whenever moved to do so for those who care to indulge in my musings and viewpoint.)

In the Old Testament of the Bible (specifically 1 Samuel 8) there is the story of how Israel transitioned from the period of mostly righteous judges to a period of mostly godless kings.  The whole history of Israel, according to the Bible, is one of Israel’s almost incessant rebellions against God and turning to the idols of their neighbors; followed by God’s judgment upon the Israelites; followed often by the repentance of the Israelites and their begging God for His mercy and deliverance from their enemies.

After almost 400 years of being guided in the ways of God by 15 judges, the Israelites now residing in the Land of Canaan—their Promised Land—were not happy.  They wanted to be just like all their neighboring peoples (who were their idol-worshipping enemies) and be ruled by a king; a tyrant; a dictator.

When Samuel, the last to judge Israel and a prophet of God, was aged he appointed his two sons, Joel and Abijah, to judge Israel.  However, they turned out to be wicked and dishonest and perverted justice.  So the people petitioned Samuel to appoint a king to rule over them.  Samuel did not like the idea and did not want to comply, so he sought the voice of God.

God responded and told Samuel: “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them” (1 Samuel 8:7; NKJV).  The Lord God went on to tell Samuel that despite all the blessings He had poured out upon Israel and all the times He had delivered them out of the hands of their enemies; out of all their difficulties, they still wanted a fallible human being to rule over them.

“Now, therefore,” God warned Samuel, “heed their voice.  However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them” (vs. 9).  God told Samuel to tell the people that they would not like to be under the authority of a king.  This king that they clamored for would make their sons and daughters subservient to all his wishes.  He would enslave them and take the best of their businesses and resources for his own purposes and desires.  “And you will cry out in that day,” warned Samuel, “because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day” (vs. 18).

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, ‘No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles” (vss. 19-20).

Flash Forward

Now, let us flash forward about three millennia to the current state of affairs in the United States of America.  America, despite the incessant howls of various progressives, liberals, atheists and what-have-you, WAS founded upon the most unique and enduring biblical principles and ordnances of the Judeo-Christian world.  Although many would dispute that, the fact is that it IS indisputable and historically accurate.  The American constitution is like no other in the history of the world, dividing the rule of law among three branches of government:  Executive, Judicial and Legislative.  The Founding Fathers prescribed it that way so that pride and tyranny would not reside in any branch and particularly not in the Executive or presidential arm of government.

However, during the 2007-2008 U.S. presidential campaign there arose out of virtually nowhere Barack Hussein Obama who promised his enamored and tearfully bleary-eyed masses and mesmerized them with the slogan, “change we can believe in”.  He promised that they could have it all with just a little re-distribution of wealth from the haves to the have-nots.  And the faithful wailed, “Hallelujah!”  He promised them full government transparency during his reign.  And his ardent followers chanted, “Amen!”  He promised his adherents greater personal freedom and his vassals screamed, “Preach it, brother!”  He promised health care for all at a lower cost using their same insurance and doctors and the enraptured squealed, “Give me more!”  He promised to bring America’s troops home and create a safer homeland, and the dazzled pierced his ears as they screeched, “Amen, Amen, Amen!”

Now, despite the fact that little was known about this “savior” of mankind, the politically blind, uninformed, historically ignorant and those obsessed with seeing a semi-black man in high office lined up kinder-style in support of a man who would lead the free world.  What was known about this man who would “rule” over them?  Absolutely nothing, or at best very little.  Everything that was important to know about Mr. Obama was sealed from public eye and disclosure.   Where he was really born is still a mystery.  I know, some still cling to the myth that he posted his “real” birth certificate online.  Really?  It has clearly been determined by forensic investigators to be a crude fraud but the mainstream media refuse to report it.  All of his college and law school records have been sealed.  Why?  What is he hiding?  It appears that his enthralled minions could not see beyond his blackness and discover his unvetted weaknesses, lack of true experience in almost any realm that is required of a sitting president and his truly diabolical plans for the America he detests.

Fool Me Once

The long-standing axiom, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,” sure applies to the Obama faithful who not only voted for him in 2008, but returned to vote for him in 2012 after he clearly proved his ineptness and fully disclosed his scheme to “fundamentally transform America” into his own image of her.

So, what did Obama’s faithful and the rest of the subjects of America’s first “ruler” get from the bargain basement of leader-dom?  In addition to an unknown entity of leadership, the majority of Americans (including some of his enlightened former followers) realize that in Barack Hussein Obama, the country has successfully not only voted in once, but twice, the country’s first narcissistic tyrant who avoids, subordinates and violates the U.S. Constitution every chance he gets.  Apparently Mr. Obama did not study or teach constitutional law in order to understand how to uphold it but rather how to subvert it.  He has so weakened the U.S. economy through over taxation, government regulations and penalties that thousands of businesses have been forced to close and millions of able-bodied Americans remain unemployed, under-employed or have just plain given up looking for meaningful work.  Along with his ever-increasing welfare agenda for the masses, he has made serfs out of most of his electorate and others who have fallen victim to his nefarious schemes of re-distribution and entitlement.  His administration is not only the least transparent in U.S. history, but he blatantly lies and deceives the American public on a daily basis.  His treasonous behavior and gutless foreign policy and military impotence have cost thousands of U.S. military men and women their lives or body parts.  While Obama pontificates that the world has never been safer, the truth is that the world has not been this much in jeopardy and American lives at risk since World War II.

His spendthrift administration and cohorts in Congress have doubled the national debt to insurmountable levels, thus enslaving the current and many future generations.  He permitted the uncontrolled “quantitative easing” or free printing of U.S. dollars that threatens the purchasing power of every American, thus reducing their standard of living and ability to financially survive.

In king-like fashion, Obama has routinely ignored the U.S. Constitution and rule of law when it suited his purposes and advanced his political and socialistic agenda.  He upholds laws that he favors and ignores or subjugates laws he disagrees with or makes his own laws.  He decries that the do-nothing Congress of Republicans and some Blue Dog Democrats are holding up his agendas.  Thank God!  On the other hand, they have no time to legislate because they are too busy investigating an ever-increasing list of incredible scandals that flood forth from his administration almost weekly.  In addition, the country has witnessed the workings of the most divisive, race-biased president in the history of the country.  While Obama is all too ready to prejudicially jump into the presumption of white on black offences, he cannot and will not be seen or heard from in the thousands of black on white crimes that have proliferated under his watch.

As his ever diminishing number of devotees proclaim, “God Save the King!” those more astute and patriotic shout, “God Have Mercy and Save Us!”

Democrats: Demented Fools or Cunning Communists?

Are Democrats demented fools or cunning Communists?  In either case, America is in deep trouble and voters better snap out of their malaise in the coming election and thoroughly boot out all, and I mean ALL Democrats up for re-election and their RINO (Republicans in Name Only) counter-parts who are rapidly subverting the U.S. Constitution and rule of law in America.

It is no surprise that Democrats have won elections through deceit and subterfuge.  The leftist Democratic educational system has been hard at work for decades to dumb-down America’s young so that they become voting zombies and pawns of their socialistic agenda.

Democrats say the most outrageous things.  In the past week some high-profile Democrats (including the president) spouted some outrageous nonsense.  Let me re-phrase that: “Outrageous lies.”  First, on Sunday, February 23, it was reported that Secretary of State, John Kerry, not well known for his pro-American rhetoric or wisdom, while visiting Indonesia, the world’s largest nation of Muslims, proclaimed to the Muslim world (while beating the drum call to Islamic prayer) that, “We [Muslims, Christians and Jews] are all bound to one god and the Abrahamic faiths tie us together in love for our fellow man and honor for the same god.”  I’m not sure what planet Kerry lives on, but it certainly is not the one of everyday reality.  A little religious/history lesson for Mr. Kerry.  Muslims, Christians and Jews DO NOT (I emphasize, DO NOT) serve, worship or pray to the same god.  Allah, the Muslim god, is a heathen, pagan god of Arabic myth (see Islam & Christianity, A Revealing Contrast).  Islam IS NOT an Abrahamic faith.  Ishmael, the son of Abraham and the slave woman, Hagar, became the father of 12 Arabic kingdoms, NOT Islam, which  was the satanic vision of Muhammad many centuries later.

Islam IS NOT a religion of peace and love for one’s fellow man, but rather a demonic religion of bondage that persecutes anyone who disagrees with its members sadistic viewpoint.  Hundreds of millions of people around the world are persecuted, demeaned and murdered EVERY year by adherents to the Islamic faith and the teachings of their “holy” book, the Qur’an.

The very next day, Chuck Hagel, Obama’s new Secretary of Defense, announced that he is proposing a cut in the size of the U.S. military to levels not seen since before World War II.  After-all, America has far fewer enemies than 75 years ago, right?  Today it’s hard to keep tabs on the number of tyrants and terrorists who want to bring America down and see her thoroughly destroyed.

Not to be outdone, Obama’s despicable excuse for Attorney General, Eric Holder, in a meeting of state attorney generals on February 25, told the highest law officers in each state that they did not have to uphold laws that they felt were discriminatory.  Of course, Obama and Holder have long held the opinion that the duly passed congressional law known as the “Defense of Marriage Act” was not worthy of defending in the courts because it called for recognition that the sanctity of marriage was best served by the uniting of one man and one woman in the sacred man-woman union ordained by God.  What laws will Holder-Obama suggest not be adhered to next week or next month as they play out their tyrannical hand of constitutional subversion?

Then there is the Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-NV) who seems to be in a daily race with Vice President Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi for who can say the most outrageous thing.  On the Senate floor on February 26, Mr. Reid asserted, “Despite all that good news [about Obamacare], there’s plenty of horror stories being told. All are untrue, but they’re being told all over America.”  Again, what planet does Reid live on?  Was he resting comfortably with Nancy Pelosi and Biden in a cocoon of denial when Obama said, if you like your health insurance, you can keep it, but millions of Americans lost their insurance and tens of millions more will due to Obamacare?  Was Reid out-to-lunch when Obama said, if you like your doctor you can keep him, but thousands are losing their general practitioners and critical care doctors due to Obamacare?  And where was Reid when Obama promised that his Affordable Care Act would reduce health insurance premiums by an average of $2500 for families, yet millions are seeing their health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs skyrocket.  In his statement before his peers, Reid asserts that all the health care horrors and testimonies being given by everyday people that are in a health care crisis are nothing more than consummate liars and Republican shills.  Are Democrats that obsessed with forcing Obamacare down the raspy throats of Americans that they are willing to habitually lie about it no matter what the cost to the people and the nation?  It is disgusting and reprehensible to watch and listen to day after day.  To date, according to reliable counts, Obama has unilaterally and illegally violated the Constitution and changed the Affordable Care Act 27 times since it was passed by ALL Democrats.

On the same day, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), took to the Senate floor to offer praise to the despotic and oppressive regime in Cuba after his week-long visit there.  Harkin oozed forth praise for Cuba’s socialistic health care system, education and, of course, their baseball accomplishments.  Harkin’s praise resulted in Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), whose parents fled Cuba, to give Harkin and the Senate a dose of Cuban truth serum.

It seems that Democrats ascribed to the communist/Marxist notion that if you tell a lie often enough the people will believe it.

And then there is Mike Dickinson, a Virginia Democrat, who is running against Republican Eric Cantor.  What’s Dickinson’s beef?  He wants the FCC (Federal Communications Commission)— the same FCC that wants to monitor every news room in the nation for proper, government-approved content—to investigate Fox News.  Why?  Because, according to Mr. Dickinson, “Fox News does nothing but tell lies and mistruths.”  Gee, I guess that’s the reason they are the most watched news station in the country with 35% market share compared to the “truth-tellers” CNN (6% viewership) and MSNBC (3%).

Oh, and let’s not forget President Obama himself.  He also lives in the la-la land of deception.  On Tuesday night (February 25), before a gathering of his faithful at an Organizing for Action event, he told those rapt to hear his every word, that, “The work you’re doing is God’s work.”  (He was referring, no doubt, to the difficulties Americans are finding in swallowing his repeated lies on just about everything).  Of course, he did not say which god they were working for.  This is the same Obama who could say with a straight face during his interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly that there is “not even a smidgen of corruption” associated with the IRS scandal.  This, his decree, despite the fact that there has not been a thorough investigation yet and no testimonies by complainants had been taken at the time.

The U.S. Constitution in Crisis.   With Democrats from the President on down in a full frontal assault on the intelligence of Americans and the Rule of Law is it any wonder why Jonathan Turley, Professor of Constitutional Law at The George Washington University Law School, when testifying at a House committee meeting yesterday on executive overreach by President Obama, that America was in a constitutional crisis (see Fox video). “I believe we are now in a constitutional tipping point in our system [of government].  It’s a dangerous point for our system to be in.”  The three branches of the government of the United States (Executive, Legislative and Judicial) were established by the Founders as checks and balances for each other, Turley duly noted, and to prevent usurpation by any one of the branches, becoming a rogue entity that destroyed the intent of the U.S. Constitution.

The dumbing-down of Americans:  What the polls say.  So, how did we get to this point in our once great nation?  It has not been by accident, but rather by subversive political design over decades.  True American history has all but been thoroughly purged from America’s schools and universities or scrubbed clean for political-correctness.  Replacing American history are pseudo-history texts in the nation’s schools that are contrived by Muslim adherents.  See this American Textbook Council report: Islam in the Classroom: What the Textbooks Tell Us.

In March, 2011, Newsweek took a poll of 1,000 U.S. citizens, asking them to take the same 100 civics questions  test given to immigrants in order to become a U.S. citizen.  Of the 3 million-plus immigrants who have taken the test recently, 92% passed.  However, in the poll, only 29% of respondents could name the nation’s vice president (Joe Biden); 40% did not know that the U.S. fought against Germany and Japan in World War II; 44% could not define what the Bill of Rights were in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution; 67% did not know that America’s economic system is based on capitalism and 73% did not know why America fought the Cold War (communism).

In a McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum poll taken of 1,000 U.S. adults in January, 2006, only one in the 1,000 could name the 5 freedoms guaranteed under the Bill of Rights.  However, 22% could name all five of the major cartoon characters of the Simpsons.  While only 8% of the respondents could name three of the five freedoms of Amendment I, 40% could name two of the three judges on American Idol.

Should we be dismayed that America is in such a fix?  Americans have been “dumbed-down” to the point that the majority no longer know the law of the land or when they are being lied to.

World-class Leadership Lacking in America

It has been several months since I posted on this blog.  Trying not to get distracted by the inept leadership in the Whitehouse and Congress, I have been trying to focus my time and efforts on a new book.  However, even though I know others are far more informed and articulate than myself in addressing various issues of importance, I find myself unable to resist offering some perspective on the Syrian crisis and America’s pending military action.

It is no surprise that, unlike former President George Bush, our current president is unable to muster any international support for his recommended military assault on Syria.  Why would anyone of any degree of sanity trust our president.  He has a strong history of being a habitual liar; a deceiver and one who has no qualms about releasing sensitive security information of our allies and ourselves to the enemy of mankind.  His foreign policy (or lack thereof) in the Middle East and elsewhere has been an unmitigated disaster that has thrown that region of the world into utter chaos and instability.

Not even our trusted allies of the past will support Obama’s planned attack on Syria because they know that he is an undisciplined, feckless, narcissistic leader who cannot be trusted or has the wisdom and understanding to deal with the complex issues facing Israel and Muslim-dominated countries in the Middle East.  Since taking over as Commander-in-Chief of the United States military, Obama has systematically weakened every branch of the military; created chaos and increased bloodshed in Iraq; carried out a disastrous war strategy in Afghanistan; created a destabilized Libya and Egypt and openly supplied factions of the Muslim Brotherhood with arms and millions in cash.  Why would any nation in favor of freedom support such a treasonous leader, even if he is president of the United States?

If America does attack Syria and the U.S. Congress is complicit with its approval, it will be a disaster for America.  While I sympathize with the plight of the Syrian people, the time for military action has long past.  And with Obama openly telling the world before hand what our military strategy will be, it has given Syria’s Assad plenty of time to re-deploy his equipment and forces to civilian areas.  Have the members of Congress learned nothing about Obama’s weak and ineffective Middle East diplomacy?  Why would they expect any different outcome in this case?  The only thing that an attack on Syria will accomplish at this stage would be opening up justification for more terrorist attacks on Americans and American targets worldwide (including in the U.S.); create even greater instability in the Middle East; put Israel at an even greater risk of attack from its Islamic neighbors; embolden Iran to participate in the conflict (and perhaps other Islamic countries) and accelerate their nuclear program; and further exasperate the economies of the world.

A note to Congress:  An unconstitutional president can only be expected to do unconstitutional things.  At a time in history when what American needs most is divine guidance of Almighty God, we have a president who would rather go campaigning, go on vacation, play golf or shoot hoops then to go before God in prayer and supplication.  In fact, we have a president who does not even honor the traditional Day of Prayer every year but makes it a point to honor Ramadan, the fasting holiday of Muslims who have vowed to destroy America.  And, he has filled his cabinet of advisors with Muslims, some of whom are active with the Muslim Brotherhood.

America is in deep trouble on many fronts and instead of having a bold, patriotic leader who seeks God, we have re-elected a person who is either intentionally seeking to destroy America or who is totally incapable or inept at leading the country forward out of its many predicaments.

Update:  September 5.  Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted yesterday 10-7 in favor of a U.S. military strike against Syria.  However, Congressional representatives’ offices are being flooded with calls from their constituents at a rate of 499-1 against such a strike.  Will they listen?  Why would we follow a commander-in-chief into such a dangerous conflict when a host of scandals (Fast & Furious; Benghazi; NSA spying; IRS abuse and a myriad of constitutional abuses) have not been resolved or anyone held accountable?  Are our duly elected representatives that dense, or what?

Obama Announces Gun Control Task Force

[I know, I have been pretty quiet since the election.  I’m still recovering from the shock of American stupidity in re-electing a do-nothing, incompetent, Marxist, freedom-destroying racist as president of the once great nation of America.]

“Obama announces gun control task force.”  Well, no surprise here.  Obama and his ilk will jump at any opportunity to savage the Second Amendment.  Just in case you are not familiar with the 2nd Amendment, The Right to Bear Arms, here it is in its short, sweet and clear one sentence:  A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep  and bear arms, shall not be infringed.   Why was this amendment to our (used to be) cherished U.S. Constitution so important to the Founding Fathers and those that signed the Constitution?  Simply, because it follows their thinking in the 1st Amendment:  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.  Without the 2nd Amendment, citizens of the United States cannot protect the five freedoms (religion, speech, press, assembly and redress of grievances) in the 1st Amendment.  That is what has made America the most unique (not perfect) country in the history of the world, along with its foundation built on  Judeo-Christian faith and principles.

. . . shall not be infringed.  What exactly does that phrase mean?  What did the Founders intend for it to mean?  To infringe upon something or someone means to violate established law or violate a person’s right or break an oath to them in supporting and defending their right(s).  To infringe upon someone’s rights means that you are limiting or eliminating their freedoms.

The Founding Fathers, the architects of the Constitution and the signers of the United States Constitution had vivid memories of their fight for freedom and separation from the tyrannical and oppressive government of England.  They wanted to make sure that future generations would not fall victim to or become captive to such a government in the future.  If the tyrannical, marxist powers now gaining strength in the U.S. are successful in weakening, modifying, restricting or even abolishing the 2nd Amendment, how long will it be before part or all of the 1st Amendment will  be under full scale attack?  The 1st Amendment in many ways has been under assault from our own government for years, in both subtle and forthright beatings.

I have a novel idea:  Instead of gutting the 2nd Amendment and leaving us defenseless against criminals and a corrupt government, how about the church and politicians get some backbone and “destroy” abortion.  You know, that hideous act of pure murder of the unborn, near born and recently born.

Since the passage of Rowe vs. Wade legislation in 1973 that “legalized” abortion in the United States over 54 million innocent lives have been slaughtered in or outside the womb.  Worldwide, over 1.3 billion babies have been murdered.  And this is only those abortions that were recorded as “legal” murders.  One cannot promote a culture that values life when one actively, blatantly and with wanton disregard for precious life promote a culture of death—legally taking the lives of the most innocent and unprotected.  If mothers can callously take the life of their unborn for no greater reason than such a birth would be “inconvenient”, “unwanted”, “untimely” or “unaffordable”, why would we expect our surviving offspring to respect life?

And, here’s another novel idea:  Instead of spending hundreds of millionsof dollars each year (over $1 billion from 2002-2009) of taxpayer monies to fund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to take the life of America’s future, let us channel it to pay for better mental health programs and support.

There always has been and always will be violent criminals and the murder of innocent people.  That is the product of a sinful, unrepentant, fallen world.  Controlling or banning guns in the hands of responsible citizens who desire to exercise their Second Amendment rights to “bear arms” for sport or self-protection will not reduce violent deaths at the hands of those so intent on doing so.  It will only open the door to even more criminal violence.
